    What's it worth?

Charlie, I got the Vortech version too. Paid about $100. The major difference on thew Vortech is they don't have the pigtail for the direct magnetic triggering. But our ESC setups use a 5 pin HEI module, so it should work fine. MSD did report a problem with some 5 pin applications...a misfire...

Turbo redesign for a carb turbo system

Oh ok... You were talking about carb adapters and I thought you were talking about low riser intake manifolds. Never mind! I'll try to did up that Riv plenum and see what it looks like.

please enlighten me on suspnsion! LOL

Loyd nailed it... For the Front: Stock is 5600 or 5602 at a rate of 346 lbs/inch Next step is 5606 GN springs with rate of 420 ....for more height use 5608, or 5610. Ultra handling would be the IROC 5660 springs. I've dealt with ESPO Springs for my GS's. They're very knowledgeable and...

please enlighten me on suspnsion! LOL

Here's a great page with spring specs for a Monte SS: New Page 1 When I upgraded my 79 Regal, I took the easy way out and used stock GN spec springs from Moog. Lower springs will generally improve handling on smooth roads, but will make for a harsher ride. Stiffer springs will do...

Turbo redesign for a carb turbo system

Charlie, is that low riser a 4.1 intake? I picked up an Edelbrock dual plane and it's HIGH! It should work for a blow-thru tho.. I have a Riviera turbo carb plenum here (somewhere). Pretty sure it drops the carb lower than the Regal one. Bet it flows worse, but it may work with higher intakes...

Hey Vince! I'm south of you...below Quakertown and near Doylestown. My 79 has been off the road for years, but in its time it ran great.... floor it, count to two, and it would pull like a freight train! I miss it. Mid-range power was awesome, but the stock turbo would limit hi rpm breathing...

    MSD Boost Timing Master

I'm a step ahead of you Charlie!....I bought a 5462 on eBay for $100.... it arrived yesterday. I already have a MSD 6A, so this 5462 will complement it nicely. New ones are $240 from Summit. Or search eBay for 'MSD Boost' to find the various models.

    83 Regal into Turbo

Monte Carlo SS's used the 7.5 inch rear. 3.73:1 gears in those! The later 84(?)-up turbo Buicks and Olds 442 used the stronger 8.5 inch rear. They go for some good money these days. I put a stock 83 T-type dual exhaust on my '79. It splits into duals behind the (missing) cat converter. I bet...

Engine apart at machine shop. What to tell them at this point? Pointers? Tips? *pics*

Jim, I had my 66 Buick 401 done at Markovitch in Warminster. About 10 miles South of Kirban. Good guys, they're familiar with the V6 too. Align bore will require a 'tight' timing chain set. Agree on the threaded plugs for the oil galleries. Rod reconditioning is a standard rebuild procedure...

    Repeat procedure.

Done yet? Hey, what are your thoughts on single-plane vs dual-plane intakes for a blow-thru? Does the conventional dual-plane-is-better-for-low-end-torque still apply? I got a great deal on an E-brock Performer. It puts the carb about 3.25" over the top of the intake port. Hope...

    83 Regal into Turbo

That Holley advise posted here; http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/2397486-post65.html You will still need to route that line thru a switched vacuum thingy like the PECV. Routing it back to the manifold will screw it up in a draw-thru application. P.S. don't believe me until Adam confirms!!

    83 Regal into Turbo

That's what I read too. I just got a wideband A/F gauge. Went with the Innovate LM-2 handheld. I got the full kit for $311, but the basic can be had for about $275. Full kit has datalogger and scan tool too. A basic sender-gauge, Model LC-1 with UD gauge, can be had for under $200. Put on my...

    83 Regal into Turbo

A quick search of the forum led to this excellent link: petesbuick.html My explanation: Most carbs have a circuit to adjust fuel mixture based on load. The Q-jet uses a metering rod/power piston setup. At cruise or deceleration, there is a lot of vacuum that will pull the metering rods into the...

    I think its finally shot!

I thought the Chevy used a different trans bolt pattern than the Buick-Olds-Pontiac? You have the Th-350 right? Buick brackets won't fit a Chevy engine. Everything should fit a Buick 350 tho. A buddy of mine replaced his turbo V6 with a Buick 455. It was AWESOME. Even had air conditioning and...
