Is it normal to smell alcohol after medium to hard acceleration ? I have an AlkyControl system , and running denatured right now.

I smell it like crazy on my car. I run straight meth

This has got me thinking. Where am I smelling it from? It can't be the exhaust. The motor is buttoned up. Could it be leaking? Could it be coming out of the top of my coolant bottle when I really lay into it? Any ideas?

Denatured has a sweet pungent odor.. like antifreeze hitting a header.

Straight methanol typically leaves no odor in comparison.

Unless you buy the additives like bubblegum, cherry, etc.

Smell comes from exhuast.

When I first drove my car with Alky I smelled something but it wasn't the meth, I pooped in my pants:eek:

Meth user here and I only smell mine after I top off the tank and separate myself from traffic via WOT. I think it comes out of the cap vent. I know the difference between it being fresh and tailpipe fumes.

I smell it when I get out of the throttle...Straight meth and a lot of it.

i dont think im smelling mine from the exhaust. i could be wrong. but ive never smelled my exhaust from inside the car. i think there may be some coming from the vented cap possibly?

It mostly comes from the compressor "sneeze" as you close the throttle abruptly. The alky and air that backs up comes back out through the air filter then wafts over the windshield.

im smacking myself. that is where it comes from.

methanol itself is nearly odorless....what you're smelling is from the exhaust

He's running denatured.

I get the same thing from the SVO between shifts. I also got it in the GN off throttle. It is raw alcohol coming back through the intake tract.
