Didn't happen. No Shane, no twin car for him, no red tso car for his customer. I was impressed by how many racers were there by 11 am Friday, at least 50 and maybe 65+. However, that count didn't go up much on Sat and not much more on Sun, and not much local spectator turnout for Sunday. My guess is maybe 90-100 cars there to race Sunday, and very few people there like me just to spectate. The first 2 bpg's at Salem seemed to be 85+% v8 cars but I think the turbo v6's are up to about 50% now. I had a good time and I think the turnout was enough to keep the event out of the red, which given the economy and fuel prices was no sure thing. They sprayed the track before each round of qualifying and before eliminations and all the staff were great. Some racers, like Ted, had traction issues all weekend but others, like Jim Rock, were on the wheelie bars with too much grip most passes. The air was best on Sun and in eliminations most racers seemed to have the traction figured out. With Dave F broken and Ted fighting for traction, tso et's were way off the pace from Norwalk. However, in tsm, Don Cruz and Jason W both ran 9.3's which was basically equal to the best et's at Norwalk. The q16 bump was 10.16 the last I heard, so overall the fields were as fast as could be hoped for. Do I miss the days of 6-8 mid 8 sec GN's in q16 at similar events (Whitter, Cherry, Anderson, Borelli, Peterson, Ski, Bernard, Rankin, etc)? You bet. Am I building one myself? No

. See you in October at Cecil.
