If you like a lot of detail, the corvette C5-R and C6-R models are really good kits. There's metal photo etching pieces you can get especially for them too.
revell will be releasing and have relieased some pretty awsome kits lately check modelroundup.com
this is something I have been meaning to start doing again. As a teen I used to build cars , boats and planes ( i had the planes hanging from my ceiling in my room). I then discovered firecrackers and a bb gun, it was a shame, I had a nice collection and they were very well built too but I blew them up or shot them up. I have a couple of kits kicking around the house somewhere, an 88GT Mustang convertible and a 55 or 56 Chev sedan if I remember correctly, just need to find them.
Does having amassed a huge collection of original unbuilt kits fm 60's and 70's & 80's count? Got other, from under the table, stripped clean bombs, a handful of resin's, and a massive selection of parts all categorized into boxes too. Just don't have time to build lately. Man just the idea gets me going tho. I haven't even gotten my built kits out of their moving towels for display since, well. It's been 8-yrs...
Love what you guys are sharing though!
I'll get some out for pics. Mine aren't quite what my buddies who've won NNL's and other super detail contest's are, but I'm quite satisfied with my accomplishments.
There's a Derby thread in the archives somewhere here, where I showed the Pinewood Derby winner's my son and I've built more recently. We got Best Paint for both our cars something like 5-yrs running, and always placed in the races too!
Lot of the old kits are worth money now. Collector items. People are always searching for models they built as kids and want to rebuild them now that they are older and they are better builders
