This is a quick question that maybe someone has first hand experience with.

I need to replace the upper portion of my back seat. I know I probably don't need them but the two ears (anchors) that attach to the floor are rusted thru. I want to put my upholstery from a base Regal on my project as it is in GREAT shape. I know of some cheap Regal(maybe Cutlass) Limited seats (pillow backs and bottoms) that have the same 45/55 configuration.

I only need to know if the LMT upper rear seat is the same foam shape as the base /GN/t-type. The upholstery guy recalls the foam as the same with the difference being the Limited covers were thickly padded and came off when removed.

Thanks,
Bob

On the back side where it slides into place, all gbodys are the same...on the foam seat side, not sure...

Thanks Gary.

OK that's good. The straps & frame will hook in the same spots on the floor & trunk opening.

Now if I can figure out if the attached foam core is the same. I have looked at some of the upholstery kits being sold out in cosmic digitopolis and I find the LMT covers and another listed as "not original design but fits G-bodies." These kits have the padding included in the cover it looks like, so that makes me think they might get mounted on to the same foam. I might be jumping to conclusions so I'm still checking before I make a wild goose chase for cheap seats.

They look simular, limiteds are are padded in the cover in itsself....foam can be swaped too if needed...just6 some hog rings and hog ring plyers, and youll be set...

That does it for now. I would have bet the foam core under the padding was close if not the same. The interior guy agrees and says he could patch in foam if needed.

Basically this swap makes a few more options available if it works out. What the heck the seats are basically free. The whole idea for me is to go cheap 'til money is there for a new interior. It's more important to get this thing kinda finished & running down the road soon.

Thanks for chiming in Gary.

Bob

FYI - the seat foams are not the same. So much for educated guesses. Pictures below. Wire frames are the same, so we swapped the good foam for the bad foam and luckily found a complete unhacked and rust free frame for the new upholstery/foam to be wired on.

PIC #1 frames look exactly the same and are both beyond repair (my skills)
PIC #2 limited seat covers have a foam insert that more than fills the recessed area of the back cushion etc. so Base Regal seat was the right choice for us.
PIC #3 - see #2 to compare
