Success today! I have officially completed the first Bin File for a TBI System on the carb turbo system. TBI is a complete reality now..... with boost up to 30lbs and E85! Complete 4bbl system should market right around 1450... while a system using factory style tbi injectors should roll right around 875.... tell me what you guys think.

So you're injecting fuel from one of the tbis similar to an early 90s gm pickup

If it works, great. If not, then you need to stop smoking those blunts.:ROFLMAO:

yes you can use one of those if you want, the prototype is using one of the FAST EFI throttle bodies. But a GM one is just as easy. Actually, the technology has been here for a long time... just the programing didnt exsist. Thanks to Grumpy and his previous adventures on the net... i was able to build the map. This all uses readily avialable parts.. i could tell ya how to put one together and you could download the base tune and go from there... stupid easy really.

it works... just dont know who would be interested in such a thing.... im not giving up carbs, but offering more options. Neat thing about this system is, i set it up using a 86/87 IAT and spark controller... so we can have the tuning and spark potential that any 86/87 ECM has. I had no intention of it being for a carb turbo buick.... as this one was designed for a carb turbo Olds in a boat... but who says it cant work for us?

Dan actually helped with something? Don't tell him or he might go back and remove the info.

I can see quite a few that would be interested Aj. With everything that's been figured out in the last few years we really do have the potential to run 10's and maybe better now.:wideyed::D

well he doesnt know it.... but he talks alot on other forums... info was from circa 06-07.... so lets not key him into the fact he was the brains... i just assembled the pieces. LMAO

I totally think we were at that point 3 years ago... were all just filthy broke. I like this idea, because not only do we get that EFI drivability... but with ECM mods allow for up to 8 different tunes that can be flashed on the fly. Gas milage by day, unholy race beast by night. And since were in the draw thru capacity... the limits of the GM TBI are not exposed.... making it compatable with boost! Upper end limit for a totally stock GM TBI unit being in the area of 20 to 25lbs of boost. as far as im concerned... thats huge for us! particularly with the knock detection capabilitys that come with it. My only bitch is that a customer paid for this and I cant keep it... but the road is layed out now.

Cool, would you use a gm ecm then our your own? Id love to get back to work on my olds but my assumed good trans failure this summer zapped my interest level

Man.... ever have those days where ya feel like your on top of the world and suddenly something brings you back to earth? Today was one of those days. Finally finished a perfect sleeper small block... looked soo stock... made 553 horses.... cracked the cylinder head between the rocker studs 15 minutes before the customer arrives... after taking me 6 months too long to build. Dammit. The flow time on that head.... really sets oneself back.......sigh.......

That is a drag---sorry to hear. Would have been worse if it happened 15 minutes AFTER he picked it up.

That's what sucks... it got returned once for a valve train failure that happened, and before that a rear main seal leakage... I have never in my life fought with a small block like this. Its like it purposely hates me and refuses to go to its new home. I've had other engines come and go with no issue in the time this one has been around. Its cursed!

Are you sure it's not a Buick? I had a few of those gremlins in the old speed shop days in the late 70's. I built a nice 454 for an early 70's Corvette. The Q-Jet started to flood when the owner picked it up, after begging us to stay late for him. Then, he was in a big rush. I got another carb off the shelf and put it on. Ran perfect. Put on the air cleaner and dropped the hood. The intake was higher than stock and the carb stud was too long. Went right through the hood. I asked the guy if he wanted a wing nut on it.

It might as well be a Buick! I got that stupid turbo N/A v6 core to live quite fine but this simple small block.... just has to be pure evil! Lucky for me I was able to ease off the customer who had made an hour drive with alcohol and cigars.
