Going to do tune up on my newly purchased GN.... what sparkplugs and what gap should I use... any help would be appretiated....

TE44, 3" Terry Houston, atr mufflers, dutweiler neck, rjc plate, LT1 MAF, MSD 50's, running 15 to 17 lbs of boost. No Alky...

new GM module, new accel coil pack, and new taylor 10mm wires will go in with them .

Sorry to hijack but I just go a set of R44ts tonight, and thinking about gapping them around 25 any ideas?
 
A/C CR43TS gapped to .034"-.0345" up to 20 psi. boost.

Gap them at .032" for higher boost 20-27 psi. or so. :cool:

You want me to get you a photo of the ngk vs the delco cr and r 43 ts's?

If its delco, id run the cr grade if it was me.. 44 is stock heat range i thought????

Ive been running the ngk's for a few years, and all the equipment at work has been converted over to NGK brand plugs. They last longer and burn better if the car runs rich (carb) .. I try and keep it simple

I've been running the CR44TS gapped at .032 from 17 to 25lbs boost(just had to replace my wastegate actuator two nites ago) with excellent results.
 
NGKs and the norm..

UR5s are the accepted norm now for stock iron heads...HOWEVER for those of us who found out the hard way...NGK UR5s are NOT what is needed for the also popular GN1 alumn heads...UR5s are half an inch shorter and are firing from inside the head threads and not in the cylinder :eek: . Think its the NGK TR5s AND TR7s that are the longer threaded spark plugs. Just thought i'd share :biggrin:
 
Autolite 24s gapped at .32 is what works for me. I don't think there is a 'best' spark plug, just avoid the cheap ones and the gimmicks.
 
I have also used Autolite 24's, great plug also, for that matter so are the AC CR43TS, it's your choice.
 
NGK's here as well.
If you are in doubt get the guy to bring 6 AC..6 Autolite and 6 NGK's out.
Now look at all the AC's and AUtolites and note how the ground strap is not centered over the electrod or the porcelain is a lil crooked.
The NGK's will be on the money out the box..food for thought check it out.
FWIW in my R32 Skyline Autolites would cause a power loss vs. NGK's.

DONT GET THE PLATINUM, IRIDUM.... FANCY PLUGS not needed in the buicks just the plain base line plugs work GREAT
 
My GN has the Arizona GN hi-flow iron ported heads and when I changed plugs i used CR43s at .035. Just got my HD actuator and in spring I plan on running around 28psi. I like NGKs (I run TR6s in my Lightning) and was wondering what I would gap the UR5s at. Im guessin around .030-.032. Let me know. Thanks guys Matt

With that kind of boost that's where I would set them. :)

Nahh you dont have to. I'll go pickup some NGK's. Your also right with the stock heat range.
