...and it would NOT run over 10 MPH! This happened about 500 yards down the road from a 180 ft bridge. Got out and walked around back with the engine "running" and saw clouds of black smoke rolling out from the pipe. Luckily, a friend with cell phone was right behind us. Guess I'll be packing a minimum tool kit from now on. :o

Russ, how is traction with your S-10? just wondering, because i had an elky at one time with gobs of power and the thought of traction never crossed the cars mind.....

so i was just wondering, how is your traction and if you have good traction, what have you done to get good traction?

just wondeing because one of these days i want to have a truck project... one of two....

i want to get something between a 55-70 Panel truck (like a suburban, but with out windows). but i dont think that would have very many traction issues, because it is a full bodied truck... i was going to do something like a nice 350 SFI motor with alunium heads and big cam and all that stuff..

and then the other car that i want to get some time, is like a late 70's early 80's C10, and lower it and maybe even chop the top a couple inches... i would put some sort of power into that... but that project i think would have traction issues..

thanks

-Neil

Russ, shut off the engine, unplug the maf, and crank it back up. The ecm will know the maf is "bad" and not use it for fueling so it will run halfway decent. No boost please :-), and tipin stumble may be very bad, but it's better than idling home.

Neil: Traction is not (yet) an issue. It will barely spin the tires leaving with 5# at 2500 RPM. I have an orange stripe converter, but really need a 9" to get this thing going. On the G-Tech, my 60ft time is around 2.6 with a 0-60 of 5.2 secs, so you can see once it gets rolling, it really cranks. My MPH runs 111 with only a 13.4 ET, so once I get the "short times" sorted out it should run at least low 12's. Currently has Caltrac bars on 2-leaf springs that I *think* will hook pretty good whenever I get the converter.

Carl: Thanks for that tip! I wish I'd known it last night. Usually my son follows behind us (pecking order?), but for some reason, he ran on ahead and left us. That won't happen again! <LOL>

Later,

Nah, the hoses are cool, but I'm using muffler tubing that has no "bump" at the edge like the stock pipes do. We tried using a bead roller, but the tubing is too heavy. I'll MIG a short bead around each pipe someday...
