 recently installed an adjustable boost control, fuel pump (red XP) hot wire, fp guage and fp regulator. Running 41# of fuel pressure. Been working up to 19# of boost. Some brief knock retard (1-3) during shifts. Also saw boost spike briefly from 19# to 21#. Car shifts great (has a shift kit) idles great and responds well. I am using a 93 chip from COTTON. Am I ok to add more boost or do I have some problems with the above results.

Sounds like you need more octane and a better handle on the boost control.

What gas are you using?

I wouldn't go over 18psi. boost without octane enhancement such as alky. injection.

That would be about the max. with Sunoco 94 using typical street chip timing.

thanx

THANX, salvage6! Your opinion is appreciated! :) I was thinking no more than 19#. I did reset the wastegate. I am seeing no more than 18.5#. Leave it there or turn it down a little (1/2 turn)? do you know anything about LUCAS octane booster? :D

I prefer the denatured alky. octane booster.

I shoot for 25psi. with that stuff.

Running pure Sunoco pump and no alky. I used the BSTC set at about 18 psi. in 1st and 2nd gear and 3rd gear was scaled back to about 15 psi. boost to be safe on the street.

20 degree timing chip.

Alky. is much more fun now a must have for street driving. :)

Do a search on the subject to dig up lots of useless information. ;)
