SignUp Now!yeah, but the thread title is "the cost of building..." not the cost buying someone else's stuff..........other than that you're right
No doubt that building a fast car is expensive, but thanks for the confirmation. Looking for a bit more constructive input then that.

And:
$1000 for the right converter
$1000 for tuning
$1500 in fuel system and plumbing
$500 for a new k-member or refab the mounts on the existing k-member
Etc.
It won't take long to hit $30k with that setup also. The buick is cooler. I had a 800hp twin turbo mod motor mustang and I sold it, now I'm building a buick.
Rough example... Mine in BOLDIm headed for over 25k by time I'm done. I'm in the middle of a big HP stroker right now.

67HPQ turbo...$1500 HP71 Billet wheel $1200.00
Intercooler...$1000 GN1 $660.00
PTC convertor...$950 Used Bradco $600.00

Ain't that the truth!JI have $60k into my stage two car and will never do it again. It's a pain in the a$$. Aftermarket parts never seem to work right and cost is obnoxious. It's been five years of building and I still can't drive the car because I can't get the XFI tuned right. Everytime u look at the car, its two grand then when you get the two grand in parts, you have to sell them for $1000 cause they didn't work with your set up. Then u spend another $3k to get it right but it still needs to be modified to work costing another $500. Etc etc etc.
Keep it simple and enjoy the car otherwise you'll grow to hate it and it'll just sit in the garage like mine do.
You can run 9's for less than 30K, the catch is how many times you can do it before you go boom.![]()
You always throw the good ones away Charlie!!

Thats the most fun you can have with out laughing right their

Oops...I'll be close 30k. I forgot the ported heads and rockers...plus I just got a new exhaust.
I am selling a lot of parts off my current combo so I will actually be less, but OP was asking as if he had nothing to start with.
longball said:My build matches yours - pretty much dollar for dollar - plus another grand for FAST Dash Data Logger - of course there is always more I want! LOL
Too much is never enough!
