Thanks for your time and answers to my questions. I have a friend that has that casper tester for his TR and I can use it. I was thinking fuel pressure but I cant see what its doing while driving. What will happen if the fuel pump is going out.. Is it all or nothing, or go out slow over time?. It has a hot wire kit but I dont know what pump is on it... Thanks alot for the info...

Typically, the failing fuel pump will work ok for a few minutes (10-15-20min?) until it starts getting hot, and then start falling off... also the (failing) pump will often support the fuel required for idling/(or revving in neutral  ) conditions easily, but fail to provide sufficient volume at increased pressure under higher load conditions.... ie... you can watch the fuel pressure begin to rise as you are getting into boost, and then see it suddenly drop/fall off as load conditions, and thus fuel demand, continue to increase.... you will obviously need a way to watch the fuel pressure while driving... one way some accomplish this is to just run an extension hose for a normally rail-mounted fp gage and tape the gage to the windshield for a test run...

Excellent news with the casper's tester.... pull your module/coil assm'y off and put the tester to it!! :) Also, seperate the coils and module, and look to see if the electrical potting material of the module has turned to 'goo'... another likely sign the module is going belly up.....

Its Fixed!!!!!!!!

The new reman maf senser was bad. Got a second senser and the world is right again.. Thanks for the help and advice.. I love this forum and all of you guys knowlage:)

What does the MAF to Translator swap involve?

It involves either a 3" LT1 maf or a 3.5" LS! maf, your choice, and the translator to convert the signal. The 3" LT1 will bolt right in place, the 3.5 LS1 will need a hose adapter if you have a 3" maf pipe.

Will the 86/87 MAF sensor work with the '85

The maf senser that came on the 86 87 tr worked off of frequency to tell the computer what it needs to know... The newer maf sensers work off of voltage to talk to the computer.. The translater converts these langues from the newer( voltage )maf senser to the older language of the computer.. Mechanically its plug and play.... I replaced my new bad senser w/ a new good senser and no problems mon.....;)

do you guys think the 86/87 MAF sensor will work with an 85GN? Or does the intercooler throw everything off...
