Hello, I just ordered a buick translator from one of the vendors but they were out of the maf sensors.
Heres my question. What is the difference between the maf sensors fullthrottle & TT have and the ones from autozone & oreilly. I like to support the vendors but if theres no differnce I can get one locally much cheaper and quicker

Thanks

if they have ac delco at auto zone then no difference but all the others are crap that are probably made outside the country

wouldn't the parts store MAF units be GM cores rebuilt by A1 Cardone or a similar outfit?

if you are getting a translator - i ASSume you are getting a newer type MAF, in that case they should be readily available from GM or SOME parts stores, maybe an OReillys or NAPA.... but either way IMO i would ONLY get a Delco unit.... i have bad experiences with all the cheaper, reman, rebuilt stuff....

Are you referring to LT and LS 3", 3.5" or 4" maf? If so get one from junkyard.

Yes I am referring to the LT1 3"

One question I have is from reading many threada about maf sensors everyone say goe to the translator and lt1 or ls1. Is this because of the availabilty of those opposed to factory. Initially I thought it was because they were better units or something.

both..... availability and because they flow more... with a matching extender chip it allows the computer to read more airflow and have greater fueling adjustment...

I just pulled one off a caprice at the junkyard yesterday. Checks out good and only cost me $15

The older style ones have the aluminum body. Newer ones are all plastic.

The one I use for testing is from a boneyard.

the 3" sensors are EXTREMELY common. The same sensor is used on minivans, and luminas, etc.

Every sensor that is that size that I have tested has worked the same. So they should be easy to find.

They have been discontinued, and the reman'd ones are as crappy (it seems) as the GN remans.

The new replacements coming from Delphi/GM are different, and made of plastic. They work fine.

So use a new sensor, or a junkyard sensor. Stay away from the remans (this includes ebay stuff, as there are some Chinese knockoffs that are really bad)

Thanks fellas for all you help. I'm gonna take a trip to baton rouge and go to u-pull it because my local junkyard wants $50 bucks for theirs..

Thanks again, I'm sure I'll be on here very soon asking for more help cause I just can't seem to get a break with this car.

God Bless

Back Sooner that I thought

Moved my car today and this is what I found underneath.
What in the heck is this stuff and where could it be coming from. I took a quick look but didn't see anything dripping, ai'll look better tomorrow. Whatever it is it doesn't have any type of smell, not oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Poppy.... Looks like sulfer to me. Came from battery acid.

Hope you didn't wipe it on any good clothes after examining it. If so, be prepared for holes.:frown:

Strange. This battery is approx. 1 week old. But come to think of It that could been what was wrong with the other one. I hope that's it.

Thanks
