i was looking for a good down pipe for a stock turbo but i dont want to spend 400 dollars. any suggestions

Stay with the stock one. There really is no step between a SS THDP and stock, as many have learned the hard way.

cool thanks. what if i get a good deal on a used one? would it drop the times enough to be worth the money?

x2.

What would be the best DP to go for?

Yes, DPs work. They have more room to help change the turbulant swirling gas into a straight flow. they aid in spoolup and efficiency of the turbo system. The bigger the turbo/ more boost, the gains will be more pronounced. Is it worth $400 on a stock car. Good question. Who knows. A used one (Terry Houston) is a good find. I'd take it. You know you want it!

Your kidding right?
I went from a stock downpipe with a ported elbow to a SS THDP and dropped .7 and picked up 6mph. This is on an otherwise stock car. Only mods were K&N, hotwired pump, adjustable fuel regulator.

where can i buy a SS THDP for a reasonable price?

Just from my point of view, I'd buy a used Terry Houston, Mease, or ATR stainless DP.

You can mess with the ported elbow, and ill fitting (normally, not always) 3 inch DP, but you're better off just buying a used or even new stainless DP that will last forever and out perform all other DP's.

Keep your eyes peeled on the forsale forums.

If you can't find a used one...
Mike Licht has them at Full Throttle Speed for around $420 new with a test pipe.

A THDP style DP is WAAAYYYYY better than stock. Try and find a used one, without a cat of course:D

Mine slowed down with a THDP..I think I was all stock & it killed my bottom end..of course my top end felt better but the bottom end hurt me a lil at the race trac..now when you add a turbo..intercoller & alot of mods I think it may be an asset for you but now money will be better spent elsewhere..intercooler made my best big difference for me..stock intercoolers are old & leak like crazy im sure..

I have a Brand new never been mounted 3" Meese SS down pipe with dump and all mounting hardware for $330.00 plus shipping. Reason for selling, I bought some ATR headers and this DP won't work with the headers. PM me if interested.

If your car did in fact slow down, especially at the bottom end, it is NOT because the DP flows better. You have a puck alignment problem. It could be the puck or the turbo housing alignment.

A bigger, more free flowing exhaust will NOT slow down a turbo car!:)

so should i look for a 3" down pipe or a 2.5" down pipe? also i read above that a 3" is hard to seal. is this true? and if so how can someone make it seal better?
