Any buyers having trouble getting reciprocal feedback from sellers?

I have been a very casual Ebay user. Since 2001 I had a whopping 11 purchases. Now, the week before last, I 'went crazy' and purchased 6 items.

These auctions ended between 7/20 & 7/27. In each instance, I paid for the item anywhere from a minute to a couple hours after auction end, via PayPal. As the items arrived, I promptly left the seller positive feedback because all items were as described.

I left 2 feedbacks on the 28th, and 1 each on the 31st, 2nd, 3rd, and this evening.

Only two sellers left reciprocal feedback for me; one from an auction ending the 21st and one from an auction ending the 27th. Are sellers usually that slow to respond or are they just not going to bother?

Usually a kind follow up email will get the job done. If that doesn't work, I wait a few more days, then start emailing every other day. Wait a few more days, then email every day. Dang, that is just rude of them after awhile....

Yes US EBAY SELLERS are Lazy..

I been slacking on my feedback to buyers because of vacation & have the 4 kids around so finding computer time is hard.

I like to wait till end of month & do them all at once.

There's so many flaws, loopholes, paradoxes, contradictions, inequities, and sheer meaningless fakery in the eBay Feedback system it's becoming literally unreal...and essentially darn near worthless...which is why more & more eBay members are "opting-out" of Feedback participation.

Beware of persistent e-mails requesting or requiring Feedback.
Some buyers/sellers consider that even more rude than their not leaving Feedback.

They consider these e-mails (especially those that are ongoing and repetitive) a form of personal harassment, even calling it one of the worst of the several forms of "Feedback blackmail".

Always remember Feedback is NOT obligatory, nor is mutual Feedback a condition of any auction or bid. Just practice the Golden Rule, & then move on.

If the person does not leave Feedback for you (after perhaps one pleasant request), consider the possibilities of what may be going on in their lives, outside of "eBay World", and don't take it personal.

Reading through the Feedback forum on eBay is a real eye-opener!

I post feedback every other day or so..

I have been known to send feedback followup to people I have BOUGHT from, and properly worded, it has worked every time. I haven't figured out a good way to ask my buyers to leave feedback..

Two Lane: You are correct in your assesment of Ebay feedback, but as useless as many think it is, it is essential to being a respected seller and buyer.

I never leave feedback on even the best sale until i get one first:)
You can leave a good feedback and they can leave a bad one so i want the last say:cool: I had one time i won on a S2 block and asked 3 times for better pictures and after the auction was over he sent the picture. The block was in worse shape than he said and neither one of us wanted badback so we decides not to leave any:) I payed his auction cost because it was only right:)

One suggestion posted on the eBay Feedback forum was to contact the seller before placing a bid, asking:

"If I bid & win on your item, and send you prompt payment, I'd prefer that you leave my Feedback immediately upon receiving my payment. After my item arrives promptly & in satisfactory condition I will leave Feedback for you.

If this is agreeable to you, please let me know & I will bid on your item.

If not, have a great auction without me."

HTH :)

Two Lane, I have to disagree with you. I believe the feedback system still has plenty of value. Especially when you are selling big ticket items as I do. If someone doesn't trust that you will be honest and do them right, there is a whole list of others who have been treated fairly, and that makes a big difference IMO. Sure there are problems with the system, but it's way better than nothing, and does give a certain motivation for folks to do the right thing. Plenty of them still don't though, but it's better than it would be without it.

Well, the four remaining sellers in my scenario have had ample time & even if they operate like littlesixsteve, the end of the month has come and gone. I will send a kindly worded reminder to them and we'll see what happens.

Most of these sellers have four-digit feedbacks so buyers are helping them out. If I had more feedback under my belt at this point it wouldn't be as big a deal but I would like to have more than 13 as I'm just beginning to sell and would like additional credibility reinforcement. BTW, my first Ebay sale ended Sunday and when the buyer paid within seconds & included a nice note, I left him a positive feedback. :)

eBay Feedback System

MB,

Another oft-seen complaint/reality in the Feedback system is this:

If you buy 10 separate items from the same individual, and leave them 10 feedbacks, their posted Feedback "count" only goes up 1.

Only the Feedback given after the initial transaction between 2 individuals adds to their posted "counts".

This is another reason deseved positive Feedback often is not given to prior buyers/sellers...it doesn't effect the almighty "count", so why bother, they figure.

(To give an example, we have several hundred more transactions than our posted Feedback "count", due to the repetitive buyer/seller scenario.)

Always a constant source of amazement! :)

We agree...it can be a step above nothing, and is a fine method when 2 honorable, responsible, honest parties make it so.

It might be helpful to all parties if the "Feedback Expectations"
of both the buyer and seller were communicated prior to the auction's end, before the all-too-typical Feedback disappointments, misunderstandings and games begin.

When summer is over & I am firing on ALL SIX cylinders I am right on it every other day. :)

I have seen a lot of lazy buyers too who wait & wait & wait.
I sold a smokey Yunick book for little money & guy never sent me payment.. I don't chase the under $15 crowd anymore.

We can have a big go around on the proper or improper way of leaving feedback..
I personally like to wait that the item was to the liking. If not I will work out a refund.
When they Shoot from the hip & leave NEG.. then that PIZZIS me off & won't work out a refund.:p
