Anybody getting any GN1 heads?? I've been waiting since the middle of January. They are hard to get a hold of. Just wondered if they've been shipping them out. A little frustrating to say the least...

Call Tom at Champion Racing and order some. They probably have them on the shelf. Or call, Cottons, Full Throttle, GBody parts. I think they're all vendors for Champion. (GN1 head makers)

I already ordered them and paid for them on the 13th of January. They haven't returned my calls. I was hoping that they were so busy that they couldn't return calls.;) So, did anybody get a set lately? Our track just reopened this year after a 1 year hiatus. I guess I'm a little impatient.

too patient especially with NO communication.

Are they a vendor on this board in good standing???? Good luck.

I thought Cottons had them on the shelf usually. Call Jack and see if he has them. Then call Champion and see what the deal is. Maybe file a dispute on your CC if it comes down to it.

Yea, its a vendor on this board but they can't do anything. I figured its easier to cut the middle man out and call myself. I'm like a little kid that wants to play with his toys!

Never know, middle man vendor may owe Champion $$$$ ? We hold product to retail accounts sometimes when they owe us too much past due $.

If you are talking about Champion not returning your calls, I know the feeling. Messages left with a woman there SEVERAL times. Never received a return call to get my head fixed...Good luck.

That statement is a bit discouraging.... :(

I have Champions on my car. I would hope the customer service they provided in your case is simply an anomaly, as I have heard nothing but positive things about this company.

Maybe another call to them might help? There's always that ONE employee that just doesn't seem to get it.

I would give Champion another try. I'll bet provided a second chance they will make it right.

Let us all know how it works out, please.

I had to take a different route...It is not the first time that calls to Tom were not returned. I guess I am not in the club...
Someone told me to just send my heads down to him and have them fixed. I then read a thread about someone that had been waiting a LONG time for head reapair and no communication, so I decided I wanted to get a timeframe for repair from them before shipping my heads...
I seriously wish I had bought TA heads in hindsight...

With all due respect and in no way wishing to hijack this thread, Bryan, the fact that you wish you had bought your heads elsewhere is noted.

I am not part of whatever "club" you speak of either, I'm just a guy with a TR, and it has Champion heads on it.

After your post these questions still remain:

A. Has Champion continued to ignore your calls?

B. Did you ever get a timeframe for repair?

C. Did you ship the heads?

D. Did they complete the repair and/or replace the heads?

E. I haven't seen any negative feedback directed at Champion lately, so what's the back story here?

I only ask so that I can learn what to expect if something unanticipated were to occur with my heads.

With respect,

Guy Cunningham

I honestly don't know what their procedure for repair really is at this point. Do they want repairs placed through vendors ? What is the expected timeframe ? What is the average price of head repair ?

I never did get a call back.

I did not ship my heads to them as I didn't want them hanging in limbo.

Lonnie Diers has my engine and had the head repaired already.

You know, I feel like I'm at all the vendors mercy and I shouldn't. Seems like if I'm not some dude that has been dealing with these cars for 20 some odd years, I get the "hey dumbazz" attitude. I have a problem with my roller cam kit I bought where a lobe is touching an adjacent lifter. When I called, I got a hint of attitude where I didn't know what I was talking about. I gave him the benefit of the doubt (I was having a bad day after I found out about that so it could of been me). I have bad days too but, when you have such a small community buying parts for these cars and limited vendors, I would be the vendor to kiss your butt to get your business instead of making you feel you have to kiss their butt. It takes just a minute to call and say "hey, your castings came in and we will get started soon" or something to that nature. I dropped almost $6,000 in parts the past couple of months. The attitude with some of these folks with these cars is somewhat ridiculous. I'm sure they crawled before they walked. I guess that's one of my main complaints.

Some guys where born knowing everything:confused: and act like it. So i disagree on the "crawled before they walked" comment.

Tom called me, actually he called me 3 times yesterday, and we finally talked today. He was very apologetic and said he understood my frustrations. Long story short, the castings have not come in yet and he said that he will call me next week and give me an update. That's all I wanted and now we are good! I think we are now on the same page about taking minute to let somebody know what's going on. Not being in the dark means a lot to folks and especially me. I don't mind waiting but I want to know why I'm waiting. Yea, yea, patience is a virtue but I have to know why I need to be patient. I actually spoke to him for about 20mins about some other issues I have with my car that are not head related which he didn't have to do.

Just to be clear, he didn't charge my card so he doesn't have my money. The vendor does. I was stating that my heads are paid for but I don't have them in hand. He doesn't charge until he drop ships them. I'm sorry I made it sound that way. BTW, there are several other people that work there so you could always ask for them.;) Now I know.

What did you end up ordering? Are they to be ported, or straight off the shelf?

I have a set that are ported by Champion. They are a beautiful piece of work! I'm sure you will be pleased when you receive them.
