Would like to see how much boost some of you are running w/93 gas & alchy.
Also, what chip & what fuel pressure(line off) setting are?

I'm up to 24 lbs boost w/Testa's 93 chip(22 degrees timing) for 009's,fuel pressure set @43 line off,but I'm still running very rich(890 down to 825 at the top end).I can't seem to get it the o2's down.It sure seems like running w/24 lbs boost that 43lbs. of fuel pressure wouldn't be to much, but I guess I'll have to lower it down a couple more lbs.

I'm running 100% denatured alcohol from Lowe's and SMC kit w/ single nozzle. My car is just so rich still,I can't understand why!!!

What is your pump speed set at?

Are you seeing any knock or retard at top end?

The straight denatured acts like a 7th injector and can cause to run overrich.

If you are not seeing any retard or knock try to bring down the pump speed.

Another suggestion will be to dilute the denatured with distilled water to help you lean out. If you do this, I would not top off with any oil. Try an 80/20 or 70/30 mixture of alky/water.

Let me know how it goes

See my sig for combo and performance with 93 + alcohol. I run 24# boost with less than 1* retard, pump speed is 8, turn on point is 15#, 70/30 mix of denatured/distilled water. I, too, run rich (870) on bottom end and go through the traps at 790-800.

OK,this is what I just did:
My pump speed was on the 8,so I turned down to 5 (or the 12 o'clock position).I also turned my fuel pressure down to 40 line off.I left my boost set at 24lbs.
Went out for a test run and although it showed o2's now in the low 800's,I got about 4 degrees of knock. Then I turned the pump speed back up to 8 to see if knock would go away(it did)and ran it again, but the o2's still showed low 800's.
So now I'm not sure if I should lower the fuel pressure another lb. or lower the boost a lb.(or both)???
I think I'll definetly try the 80/20 mix or 70/30 and see what happens.
Look Quick:what is your fuel pressure set at?Your mods are close to mine,so I hope to hit those 11 second time slips like you !!!

Thanks guys,

I've run as much as 26 psi on my WE4 with denatured on 93 octane and a dual nozzle set up. Can't recall what my pump speed was. Chip has 24* timing, if memory serves.

I would not put all my faith in your 02 sensor. Either get an EGT meter and/or go by knock & retard. I say this cause the stock 02 sensors are not exact.

Is your testa 93 chip made for the alky?

Tuning with alky is a lil harder but with an EGT one can pinpoint if they are truely running rich or lean.

When you recorded the 4 degrees of knock I would have instead brought back the fp to 42# line off.

Remember make changes to one thing at a time, so that you can see how your car reacts to that change. By making multiple changes it will confuse and frustrate you.

My FP is 40# with line off. Last time at track I made four runs with the set up as described previously and here and I had a total of one frame (0.5) knock. My max. EGTs were 1630 at end of run.

Look Quick-> Don't you think that your EGT's are high. I have been told to keep them below 1600. more of in the range or 1550-1580.

My car runs best with EGTs in the 1630-1650 range. My O2s are in the 780-800 range at top end and I get less than 1* retard. Boost is at 24#. I guess each car is different, but this is what mine likes.

The probe is right below the 3-bolt flange, on the front side of the pipe and below the O2 sensor level.

24-25 lbs boost, 108 octane Thrasher for bluetops (don't know the timing), 52 lbs fuel pressure line off (yes that is accurate), and O2's about 770-780mv at top of third gear. About 50/50 mix of denatured and methanol, with about 20-25% H20. Usually .5 to 1.5 max retard I have seen as much as 4 degrees retard but that happens at the beginning of the run if I get on it quick. I will be changing the fuel filter and inspecting the FP wiring and grounds soon due to the fairly low O2's I;m getting even though the static fuel pressure is way up there. Or maybe I'm just flowing a bunch of air with the Te44. Oh yea, a pwer plate was just installed recently and that did help reduce the knock tendency.

I've been able to run a consistent 23 psi with a 110 JL race chip that has 26* timing. That was run with an SMC single nozzle kit using denatured alky and 93 octane pump gas. I am thinking about going with the dual nozzle setup to see if I can squeeze any more out of this thing. SMC alky kit is the single best performance investment I have made for my car since it is a daily driver and it was only $300 during the group purchase:cool: .

Adding Distilled water to denatured alky?

So, if it's possible to mix distilled water with the denatured alky, would it be possible to mix Iso alky with the denatured? Wondering this because my Father gave me about 15 quarts of Iso alcohol for Christmas and I don't want to have to completely empty the tank before I add it.

With Iso would you still mix it around 70/30 denatured/iso??
