Say you buy a part here on tb.com, any type of part, could be anything... Lets just call it a crank thats supposed to be right out of the motor and good to go.

It gets shipped to you (hypothetical) and when you open the box, and you get the crank about 3 inches out of the box, and notice that the balancer was loose and wore a spot on the front of the crank snout.... Hypothetical i tell you.

You pm the guy about the situation where the balancer mounts, and also mention to him that the crank needs to be turned... That wasnt SUPPOSED to need turned... If you run your fingernail over the journal, it grabs, it aint gonna be polished out.

So, the seller probably doesnt know much about cranks, and when shipped out, didnt realize the damage.

You come to the agreement to take the crank to a machine shop and see what can be done to the crank, full well knowing its fooked. Third parties are great arent they?

Load the crank up, and drive to the machine shop/

Machine shop looks at it and suggest that more money would be spent fixing the crank than buying a new one. Machine shop also explains that welding on the front of the crank wouldnt be a good idea since i will probably break there from being welded on. Plus it needs to be turned. They refuse to do work on crank, full well knowing whats gonna happen in the future.

Now mind you, its supposed to be a good crank i tell ya....

You leave the phone number of machine shop with the seller and seller calls machine shop. Machine shop explains damage to crank, saying that they would never weld the front of it because of xxx and yyy.

Seller doesnt believe 3rd party machine shop and wants you to ship crank back...

So, now he wants to take it to a machine shop near him, and assess the damages and if they say it cant be fixed, then he will refund the money.

Now at what certain time should you flip your lid and go off on the guy for sending a inferior part, and then him having the balls to say he is going to take it to a shop and leave it up to them? Ok sh!t happens right?

Wouldnt any normal person admit guilt or at least concern about certain item and come to the conclusion that if the part was supposed to be a good piece, and now it needs alot of work, why not just refund the money before all this goes further down hill?

.020 deep seller admits that the balancer pulled off with ease.

I didnt post this for the seller to repost, i posted this cause im pissed and the money should just be refunded, and shipping should be picked up by seller.

I guess thats why so many people ask for pictures before they buy in the parts for sale section.

 And im not even the one who purchased or sold it

I don't think people like this need to be selling items on this forum. This is a great place to talk and to buy and sell buick items and this guy makes buick people look bad.

I hypothetically would make hypothetic seller eat hypothetic teeth hypothetically.

I think you should get your monies refunded for shipping both ways and the money for the item back, then the seller could have it checked out and sell it the correct way. Was that a run on sentence?

hypothetically...You should get all your money back. ALL of it! Even if the seller didn't know it at the time, he does now and thats what counts. He sold a bad part and needs to take care of it...hypothetically

From the looks of small area of crank that I can see, it looks like it sat next to the knome in his back yard for a season,

If I had a part and was not sure of quality I would

A: Sell it for dirt cheap and put a disclaimer on it and not just saying..oh machine shop fix it no problem.
B: Not sell it at all Because if I cant back it up knowing full well it might come back to me= not worth the hassle.

Anybody in thier right mind that works on any car that has parts like cranks laying around Should know by taking 1 min of thier time to find a nick in a journal or whatever...that to me amounts to nothing more then trying to scam, the part is plain as day to inspect before he shipped it and if person did not know what they were looking at then they should not be dealing in parts or even working on cars.

the guy needs to cough up the shipping and refund

Maybe find a 4th party.

Maybe U can try to find a well respected board member that can look at the crank and verify to the seller what is going on. It seems to be an issue of trust here, personally if I were the seller I would refund the original purchase and shipping price, then write the crank off completely. Im sure the money was spent already which is why there has been no resolution. I just sold a crank a few weeks ago and made it clear that if its screwed up when it gets there, he needs to call me right away so I can make it right, whatever it takes. Thats the TB.com way what hes doing is the Ebay way.

4th party would have been me  Hypothetically

I told the buyer on the phone the other day, if i had sold it to you and it was the same situation. By no means would i have even asked for you to take it to the machine shop, and a second machine shop would have been out of this world.

If there was a issue with the item even while pulling it out of the box, i would have been refunding the money immediately for my oversite of the damage to the item. <----- I dont think the seller realizes this. Hypothetically.

BW

Hypothetically BW we have a feed back system on this board? That is what it is there for?
Make attempts to contact the seller & give him the option to make it right.
If that can't be done there is a feed back on the board.

Hypothetically speaking of course

Shaddy people. There are many ways to deal with them. So I've heard.....
