I've spent a lot of money on my car and struggled with buying a second converter, let's face it, they're expensive. Dusty hooked me up with a 9.5" NLU and Vince installed it today. I'm very happy with it and will have some track times very soon. Vince Janis built my stage II trans and has always treated me very well. Vince does great work and turn around time was awesome.

I sold the TCS to a friend of mine but I need to send it out for repair first. It was making a whining noise, I haven't been driving my car because I was afraid of messing up my trans. I was also afraid of the whole non lock up converter thing but it drives fantastic. I expected a bunch of slip cruising, not the case.

Good people, thanks guys.

It is hard to explain the drive-ability of Dusty's converters to someone .....I love mine !!!

lock up? its gone?? Hmmmm guess I never noticed..... PTC all the way!

My PTC N/L goes in next week. Can you say you feel any difference, at any time, during normal driving?

Im doing back to back testing with no other changes on the drag strip.

He wants to know how it performs on the street.

You will be giving up some mileage without a LU. If you live in a hilly area or drive on the highway it will be even more. How much depends on the stall you have.

I'm biased and think people are wasting their money converting to NL when they have slow cars. If you aren't running bottom tens or faster you don't need a NLU, there are LU converters out there that will hold the power of a 750 hp motor without driving through them if people would just do the research.

I'm a sheep of a different color. Same color as my car!!!!

Turbocamino, like Bryan and these other guys have stated, it's hard to describe. The car comes into boost very quickly and has very tame street manners. If I took you for a ride you may not even know it's a non lock up. I couldn't be happier with my ass dyno feel. You will love it.

Glad to help and happy to hear your liking the swap. Vince builds a great tranny so you'll be happy for a very long time.

Rob, thanks for chiming in. We all love to hear your opinions even when they aren't accurate.

Happy to chime in, especially when people are looking for something other than what you say is the truth.

I'm sorry if the truth hurts your feelings but The PTC 9.5 nlu isn't the best converter for all buicks and driving styles.

I'm just keeping it real and the people who are running street cars in the 10's and slower and drive mainly on the street are wasting their money on the high cost of your converter when there are better choices out there for them.

It may be a good converter but it's not the best for all conditions and I'm not going to pretend it is. If you want to convince me than do a side by side test of your NLU converter and the LU of my choice in a full drivability, performance and mileage test in a 10.50 or slower car and let the chips fall where they may.

I actually drive my car Dusty, not just a few thousand miles a year, but a month. A NLU, even yours would cost me more money in fuel than any performance gains it may provide, and that might be a tenth or two at best at the track in my car and that my friend is the truth and I would be willing to prove it any time you're ready.

I would love to put one in my car but I refuse to pay the high price you charge for one for what is actually in one those converters just to prove my point. If you sell me one for what it's really worth, about 450/500 bucks I would test one with logs and any other proof you might require to make sure I'm keeping it real so to speak.

I'm sure people love their PTC's but don't give me a hard time just because I don't follow all the other moths to your flame.

Good luck with your continued sales and may you have many happy customers.

I would pay more to someone that has done this for a long time and knows what he is doing. He will get u what u need. Also he does not make very much on these. I know say what u want but they stand behind there converters and will help anyway that he can. PTC all the way.

The hand built stator is worth 500.00 . So I don't understand where you get 450/500$ at? Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm really starting to get pissed off that everytime I open one of these threads there's "rozbombie" running his f**king mouth about some god knows what converter that nobody gives two flying f**ks about.

We drive our buicks into the 9's with dusty's converter WHO GIVES A F**K ABOUT GAS MILEAGE?.
Seriously take your crap somewhere else because I'm tired of it.

Rob. From our phone and email conversations I can tell you know nothing about converters. That isn't a bad thing, 99% of the people in the car world don't either. The difference is they don't go on forums and act like they do. You go on what your converter guy told you. You took the bait and ran with it. He could tell you it's made of unicorn bone and you wouldn't know any different. That's the truth. I don't have to prove anything to you. The results are out there already. You come on here and try to beat lowball prices out of everything from converters to turbo's. You called for my opinion, I gave it to you and you didn't like it so you went elsewhere. That's fine with me, it's the great thing about business. We are free to go buy whatever we want.

You claim your worried about gas mileage with a 10 second car....if your car has ran that fast. Lets break this down. Your converter slips 0% at 70mph. Mine slips a proven 5% or less at 70mph. At 70 mph my cruise rpm is 2200, yours is 2075. Lets just say mine is 8%....that's still only 2275 rpm. How much mpg do you really think you will see in a 150-200 rpm difference? Stop and go traffic where the converter doesn't lock up. Mine slips less under those conditions, you think that might balance out those pennies your worried about?

I recommend people to keep what they have or other things to try if I feel they don't need to spend money on a converter. I spend many, many hours on the phone every week helping my fellow Buick guys out whether they need to buy anything or not. You come on every post about me and try to bash me because we don't agree. Hate to tell you but with your rep, your helping me, not hurting me......thanks Jack!!

That is the only thing in there that I will admit may be worth the price of admission is the stator, but I still stand by what I've said in that the PTC isn't the do all converter that some make it out to be.

I'm not saying the converter is junk just that it is overpriced and not ideal for everyone. If that hurts some peoples feelings to damn bad get over it.

Go out and play with your golden converter and enjoy the best thing that ever hit the Buick world. I would sing nothing but praise also if I spent that kind of money and didn't know any better.

Sell someone a converter that is better than what they had and of course they get all warm and fuzzy. Does it mean it's the best one out there, no it just means it's the best one they have tried or are they not willing to admit that it could be better if they do know because they don't want to get the treatment that is heaped on me because I'm not a sheep because I could care less what the die hard clique on here thinks of me.

Go ahead and keep throwing insults my way they don't bother me one bit. I'm not here for a pissing contest with anyone, I just want to let others know that other choices are out there and they may be a better choice for their needs.
