Im confined to Louisiana for the next 2 years

Thanks to taking up for myself.

I had court this morning for a assault charge I had got when I went out with some marine friends of mine. The cop at the scene saw everything and said it was all self defense and said it this morning also.

I was at the bar and split the guys drink when I turned around (didn't know he was there) apologized and offered to buy him a drink and he went off on me trying to act like a gangster in front of his friends.(keep in my mind he's white) and pretty much he swung missed and turned to swing again hit me and I hit him and he fell and hit the barstoll and got a concussion.

I wanted on the cops and went to jail and bonded out never denied what happened or anything everyone that scene it happen told the same thing as me and the 2 cops working the club that night.

So the judge said I should have known better being prior service and this and that. He gave me 2 years supervised probation and I can't go to a bar or club. Also got to go to anger management and now stand a chance my ex could come get my kids from me cause of this crap.

That sucks! Do you have priors though? Every time I hear of something like this happening and someone actually getting in trouble for it, it ends up being because they don't let you go if you have a prior record.

Shame on the judge. wat a coward. so let me get this straight, a guy takes a swing at you because he thinks hes a tough guy and has beer muscles and u defend urself with a police officer as a witness and u get arrested?

that would never in a million years have happened where I work. especially if a police officer was working the club and gave a statement in ur defense. no way, no how. there are two sides to a story and so wat if they other dude got a concussion. oh well, maybe he will think twice before biting off more then he can chew next time.

I feel for you. I have been involved with our so called justice system. Most judges are pompous, self righteous, morons.

That is exactly why I only hang out at one place in my town. The owner and I coached together for years and he has always told me, do not ever let anyone mess my place up fighting. If you get in a fight here, I got your back and you were working for me. Judge or no judge, Im good. As long as I dont swing after we have left the bar, I can do as much damage as I need to getting him to the door. I have had fun with this a few times over the years. I dont drink, and at 1 a.m. no drunk is a fair match, but they sure think they are.

Thats a bummer Goat. You have been thru alot this year. Just stay home and build cars, you'll get in way less trouble. You'll be as poor as me, but you'll have less headaches!!!

That is too bad. We have a family friend here in town who had about the exact thing happen. Punched the guy once AFTER being hit by three DIFFERENT people in the assaulting group, guy was out on the way down, cracked his head on the concrete. Even with the entire episode on video, it took going to a jury trial to get him off.... What's the world coming to??? You basically have to wait to get shot/stabbed before self defense is acceptable these days?!?!?!

something similar happened to me, but i was restricted to the county.

I beat a guy with a bar stool, boots and fist, after he groped my buddies wife while he was in the rest room, she slapped him, and he decked her and laid her out cold.

most PO's are over worked with a large case load, lots of probationaries/parolees and if your lucky most are violent criminals, which will put you on the bottom of the list.

due to the above i was able to get the terms modified, i explained i own a company and have to travel regularly, she modified the terms to allow me to travel unrestricted from 1 hour before work to 2 hours after due to traffic :wink: I also had no problems traveling out side the state example Las Vegas for a "conference" not bachelor party or to Italy for my honeymoon, most PO will modify restrictions when it comes to work from my personal experience.

what happened to you sucks, but it really doesnt have to affect your work if you play your cards right.

BTW you should have seen the watch commanders face, he was yelling and cursing pretty much talking **** to me, your going to jail, on and on, and my wife and my buddies wife walk out of the bathroom advise the watch commander that i was defending her after the "victim" groped her and punched her in the face, all with tear coming down her face and her eye swollen shut. I looked at him and said " if that was your daughter/wife/sister, you would be shaking my hand and thanking me" he stood me up uncuffed me said no need for you to spend the weekend in jail, wrote me a ticket and site released me, and the only witness statement that made it to the DA was from my buddies wife the others got lost :biggrin:, unfortunately, the pictures of the "victim" with missing teeth and busted nose, left me little choice but to take a plea deal, DA said if it wasnt for the bar stool, and boot bath, he probably would have never had filed but i went overboard

and you guys say cops never manipulate evidence :biggrin:

I have tryed to change it and get rid of bad company to better things I just hope my ex wife don't try to take ky kids now.

This is affecting my pipe inspection job cause I can't travel out of state for work it I have to. I do have a part time job at O' reillys (cause of the discounts) so I won't be without money.

Got into work this morning and my boss wanted details and all on what happened and he said it was bs that I'm being punished for being military and gave me the number to his lawyer.

He isn't going to fire me, but make it where I can stay at mill by my house or work at the shop.

My po was really cool and also a jarhead and she said if I can give her 6 months of good behavior, she'll let me off. I don't have to come in for drug testing and if I don't get caught she don't care what I do.
