Are there any known issues with running a LT1 MAF and translator along with the Maximum Effort 8 position chip? Anyone running this combo?

(Cleaned my air filter last night, re-oiled and promptly munched the stock MAF with K&N filter oil... smooth...)

If you go with the Translator Plus, that will give you timing control, and then the ME can be used for the fuel end of things.

A couple decades ago the GM service for MAF was to blow it out with R-12. I've used Brake Clean followed immediately with compressed air, OK. Some have used aerosol commercial electronic point cleaner.

There's been some discussion on other lists about how a K+N actually works, and I'm to the stage of unless I get caught in a dust storm, it's just going to go on and on. But, then again, I'm running one way oversized.

The Xlator works very well with a ME but the ME has to be burned for it....one that was burned for the conventional maf will not work properly.

Why?.

Hi Bruce,

Cuz the MaxE is calibrated to run with a screens out stock maf and it won't run correctly with a Translator without a special ME cal for it.

Peter,

I run the MaxEffort 16 position chip, with a Translator, as do many others. I'm running a 3.5 LS-1 MAF now, but I was running a screenless 3" LT-1 Impalla SS MAF previously. I switched to a 3.5 LS-1 upon the recommendation of Steve Y. (more airflow maybe?).

Anyhow, they both work great! :)

Have Steve burn a new chip for you.

16 pos me w/ trans+ and 3" lti maf.

works great.

later,sean
