I just cant get these to hook Best 60ft 1.8 leaving at 2-3 lb.My brakes can hold 9-10lb at 3000 RPM let go of the brake and I blew the tires off every time today,I aired down 2lb at a time from 18 to 10lb. foot print definitely got wider. Is any one running 11.9 with these tires.Best ET tonight 12.371 my 60 1.816 @107.69.My target ET is 11.9 I'm all most there if I can fix my 60ft my need a litle more boost are timing to get MPH up to 109.Going back in the morning to bracket race it.

Is your ....

foot print equal length? Might try some air bags and while under there check your bushings. You may be losing it to too much play in the suspension.

if you are spinning drop the launch boost down

its not the foot print issue , more tire is nice but the tire can get it done
proper cleanoff of tire (go around water box so you dont track water to the line )
only spin them till the start to smoke ..not john force burnouts or they get slippery
track prep ,,if you run with the street tire guys that go through the water and the launch pad is wet ..youll spin

work on your rear suspension
i know of a stock turbo car with D5 restall that could get into the 1.5s on the 255/60 and ran 11.9 . stock sway bars , but no worn parts.. all bushing were replaced with energy susp and the shocks were bilsteins , springs were cargo coils

on 255/50-16s which many said wouldnt hook i would leave at 3500-3750 off the two step (about 5-6psi on a 9" atr carr) with a stageright brake 2004rand do 1.50's and run mid 10s ..obviously im not stock h level so it can get to the 60' quicker with out a hard hit
my rear suspension on that car is boxed lower stock arms , stock uppers , stock springs , hrparts HD swaybar , cheap 3 way shock on firm
front suspension is stock with eibach -1 drop springs , because of the lighter front end it need the drop spring to be closer to stock height , and no front sway bar

on 255/50-16 ive run bottom 11s with a te44 and 1.55 60s footbraking leaving at 3 psi (2800 10.5" converter)and flashing to 20psi at 4100 rpm before the car moved 1 ft this car had less hp so the hit was harder off the lights

oh and the tire pressure was usually around 21psi

It can be done on those tires.
Pronto is running 255s and has done 1.50 60' and run low 11s. All off of the foot brake.

Umi

I have UMI upper and lowers KYB shocks. I watched the Atco video my burnout is harder than that.Track prep was ? track temp got to 170 but stayed around 150,going to air back up to 18 and leave with less boost today.2-3 and work my way up slowly.Ive just installed ALKY ,boost controller said max boost was 23.8 but forgot to look what it was through the traps.O2s 789-796 0 KR I did add 2 degrees in 1/2 to the TT street chip other than the 60 car is smooth.

Mine 60fts 1.57s with zero mods to the suspension and runs 11.7s.I usually run 20# of pressure in them, lower pressure doesnt seem to help me any nor does any air in the airbags.I havn't noticed any difference from the 275/60 M/Ts i had on it before this set either.

I have the 255's and have run mid 11's all day with 1.60 60 fts. I keep them around 18 psi and leave off of around 5-6 lbs of boost. Stock suspension with KYB shocks in the rear.

I am hoping to improve on my 60 foot times as well with 255/60-15s. Ran a best of 10.83 @ 127 last year, but with a 1.76 short time. Of all things my tire pressure gauge was off .

This winter been working on lightening the car, replaced the rear sway bar. Waiting on 4 QA1s to show up in the mail and this rain to stop before I get to the track. Doesn't matter how much power you make if you can't apply it.

No Grass

just got home from the track talked to a few racers in the 11.9 class, most did not have trouble hooking but a few had a little.aired back to 20 lb bubble triple checked I did not put them on backwards.went around the water box and pulled up close to the line,Set line lock and just hazed them.It left at 2 lb about a car length out went up in smoke 2.240 60.same thing next try but turned them a little harder.2.049 60ft I let out of it and rolled back in felt it spin a little 1/2shift that was my best MPH 107.99 I wonder if I hurt the tires with my John Force burnouts. If i know how to ad a video of my normal burnout that I have been doing with good success I would . the only thing I changed was boost controller and ALKY.We park in the grass and grass always stick to the tires but not yesterday and today.Grass was stuck there from last year on the first past yesterday my best 60ft

if you are on old tires that have been sitting out in moisture the traction wont be near what a new tire is , tires get old and hard when they sit out side and yours may have harder areas from sitting on dirt .

to old MT

My MT have 18 passes since Aug 2008 (we dont that race much in Hawaii)they were stored inside the in closed garage under a cover.Mickey Thompson told me today they have a two year shelf life(Bummer) Got all the life out of them, lots of tread left.I will start looking for a tire that has a longer shelf life.At $85.00 shipping Id like to get more for the $

Stock springs front and rear, KYB shocks stock sway bars.Pulled the date cod today 44week08. tires are not that old .A coworker and racer looked at the tires said they looked OK and gave me some Pro Blend Drag Racing Tire treatment to try. He fills that the tires are small for the HP because in Hilo Hawaii the track prep is not as good as the mainland. Pulled all my time slips the best 60 1.66 in the 11.90 class It is a tubed stang with 11s or 12s. Most every one is 1.8-2.2 60ft ,this is the most HP I have made I will have to adjust to the track I have been 1.8 60 several times. This turbosmart street controller and ALKY have changed every thing. Before I could only billed about 3 lb boost at the line and it just went to 16lb. Now I can billed 10 lb at the line and it goes to 23-24just like that.:eek:Thanks for the questions and Input it is making me do some real thinking

mamoral day drages

front sway bar is off may put the stock shocks on tomorrow going to give these one more try and order a new set soon ,started a post about BFG vs MT because I can get then from COSTCO nothing good said about the BFG. thanks for the help

20lbs in the tires. Drove right through water, heat them up lightly not a big burnout. Launch with at 10lbs boost off the brake. More the better. 20lbs in right bag, 10 in left. ATR bar and big swaybar up front, KYB shocks, HR lower control arms. GOOD track prep. 1.5, 1.6 60's. There is a fine line hitting the tires hard and spinning.

I run mine @ 24psi as long as they hook but never below 20psi. This is year 4 on them though so longer burnouts are required than just a quick clean up, but I did a 1.69 60' already this year at 24psi (tires) launching at 0psi but spooled. It's got more in it...

I managed a 1.62 at 22 psi this year. Got new shocks on now, waiting for the weather to clear up to make adjustments in my suspension.

I usually go threw the water.Heat them up untill you start seeing some smoke then let off the brake ease up on the gas and wait for them to hook.I try to leave at about 8# to 10#s at the local 1/8 mile track. You will just have to try to play around with how much boost you can leave with as the track will allow. Some nights i cant even leave at 7 lbs because the track sucks. If i goto the 1/4 mile track around me traction is no problem,i can leave at what ever my brakes can hold.usually 10#s to 13#s.

That's great! Some of the best results I've seen on the BFGs. I am thinking about trying them next. How is the wear? Do you drive them much on the street?
