hear is the deal, im going to be rebuilding/ installing new parts into a rearend for a " project super sleeper" in a 87 turbo regal-

the car is going to a lightweight car, and should run low 10's easily,.. ive never had a car that fast, and really dont know what parts to get so the car can be raced LEGALLY at my hometown track-

the car will see mostly track time, so i was thinking since i dont know how to rebuild the clutches, why not just go with a SPOOL?

ive been checking out the site gearsRus.com and they have quite alot of different setups-

i assume the rear is supposed to have c-clip eliminator axles if its running that quick?

can i get some info and what parts i should use for the rebuild?

should i just get a SPOOL and 28 spline c-clip eliminator axles and go that route? but ive heard sooooo many horror stories about how those axles leak at the hub,,, should i just get some better stock axles and try to pass tech illegally?

guys i would really appreciate you help so i can get this car finished for the cooler weather this year-

id also like to hear what does and doesnt work well with these rears-

thank you so much for the info-

for a 10 sec car you'll need something like 30 spline Mosers.....they make a kit to use the Ford bolt in axles which eliminates the c-clips and don't leak...spool is fine for a non street driven car, but don't cheap out on the axles if you go that way (can you say" big trouble" if you pop an axle?)

you need to have the axle tube modded for the Ford ends

Rear End

Sell the 8.5 and get a bolt in 9" and an after market center section and pinon support, control arms, spool and then you can forget about that part of your car and make all the power you want !! Check prices both ways it's not to far apart. You can get $600-$800 for an 8.5 posi rear..... Just my thoughts

thanks for the advice, but unfortunately ive already purchased the wolfe race craft suspension package for the 8.5 rearend.

thank you for the tip- doesnt moser make a 30 spline for the 8.5 so the axle tubes dont have to be modded?

what is the benefit of using the ford axles? cheaper??

A member of this board I know is selling a full race front and rear suspension setup out of a 9 sec malibu(1.4 60 ft's). It has a 12 bolt with the control arms that adapts it to the g-body. It includes front and rear springs and shocks and some more stuff. $1100.

the benefit of using the Ford axles, is no c-clips....they bolt in

12 Bolt

Craig, I am intrested in the 12 bolt How can I contact that member? Thanks John

Just wanted to let everyone know that the 12 Bolt set up mentioned above is mine and anyone can email if they have any questions. It comes with front coilovers, rear shocks, adjustable control arms that allow the use of the Chevelle 12 bolt, 31 spline axles, c-clip eliminators, and traction bars. This set up went 1.44 60' on a 28X10.50 slick with no traction problems. Thanks Steve

Bryan - Given your parameters, get the Moser spool, 30-spline axles and c-clip eliminators. Ask Moser to press the eliminator blocks on for you (this is often where the leaking occurs because people don't get the eliminator blocks on stright). Use the GM axles for the Regals. The only "mod" to the axle tubes is to cut off a little bit of the tube that extends past the backing plate...no big deal.

Yes, the c-clip eliminators are required at this speed.

By getting the parts from the same place, you are gauranteed it will all fit together...don't ask how I know:(

thank you for the advice on the ford axles, your not the only person with a fast car that admits that the c-clip eliminator style axles will leak-

as of right now here is what im probably going to do-
30 spline spool, 30 spline ford axles, and chassis shop mod the ends of the axle, { since it will be out of the car for awhile }
ta girdle with support kit, weld axle tubes true, and have my buddy show me how to setup the rear-
the car has 2 options, drivers remote mirror, and FM radio!!!
so 3100 lbs is no too far of a stretch!
thanks
BW

you'll be a happy camper.....you will need A-body backing plates for the brakes.....whoever does your axle will know.......I also use the TA girdle...nice piece

Hey Bryan are working on that (green) 87 Regal you got from me ? :D ..as far as building a rear stick with the stock GN rear its cheaper easier and you know it fits :) ..we have street and track cars running mid to high 9s on GN rears Malibus,Wagons and Elcaminos all w/Big Block chevys on spray ;)

Jim :)

SAME CAR-
im going to make it pretty quick- 109 block and stock heads--- GENO STYLE-
i dont care if it blows up, cause its lite weight and faster than most mustangs here in KANSAS CITY!!

I went with mark williams 35 spline axles spool c-clip eliminators and there h.d. yoke for the bigger u-joints. We used richmond gears and a t/a cover. Have had no problems or leaks.
