Need Help Still Got Knock

car pulls strong for low boost right now. i have 300 miles on it and im about to put another 100 in a few min. anyways its not time to go yet but im ready.
 
well i got 425 miles on it. man what a long day. around 1pm got my chip and its 1:30am and i got lots of miles on her. i did some cool downs after about every 100miles. Has several sheriff's run my plate :) and we got to find about 25 board partol. i decided to go down on of the worst illegal roads it was great. anyways took me about 10 hours to get 300 miles on it but its good to go now. i waited about 2 hours each cool down so it only took me about 4 hours to get the miles on it. this was all 40-50mph roads. anyways its late and im tired. tomorrow will be to put more boost to it. right now its at 12 and its pulls very hard pretty torquey if you ask me. anyways im happy. IS IT TIME TO GO YET LEE????

Are you saying that the knock is gone & how much timing did you wind up with?
 
yes knock is gone and not sure what the cruise timing is at. we set the wot timing low so i can add to it. also i still cant get over how hot the intake temp gets. it was cold last night and it still went over 180 deg on a short pull. :eek: anyways i still have to up the boost and pull some fuel im in the low 9's on the w/b :eek:
 
well i thought all was well. took it out today and it gets knock. i dont get it. only difference was the inlet temp it was cold last night and i took it out today and it had to be 20 deg. hoter. only thing i noticed which i guess is due to the hoter air is the a/f was leaner .5-1.2 from last night. well i dont have time for this so im going to do some tuning on C16. im going to get 15 gallons tomorrow.
 
So do you have some pics of the whole car together? Last time you showed pics of the car is was half way together.
 
lol it dirty so no. :) anyways i think the C16 will work well at the track. then once i come home i can figure out why my car doesnt like pump gas
 
well i went and got some C16 and i got no knock kind of. i can lauch from a dead stop bring the boost up to about 8-10 on the foot break lauch and i get no knock at all (18-19PSI) threw the gears. im going to turn the boost up dont worry anyways i get knock when im cruising at 45 or so and stab it. it knocks for a second then it goes away. This is a 3rd gear crusie to a second gear down shift. 2 psi @ 3766 RPm's i get knock all the way to 14.7 psi then it starts to drop. i dont hear knock and the a/f is in the 13.48 range of the get go then it gets richer. i dont get it.im guessing false knock but i cant find it. i put rubber hose between the dp areas but that didnt do anything and thats the only area that comes close to hitting anything. i had this same problem in this area on pump gas. what else should i check. Could noisey valve train cause this. i dont think it would but just guessing. i attached 2 logs one of the rolling on then stabing it then the other from a dead stop.

13.48 sounds lean to me during a forced downshift.

so your thinking it might need alittle tweaking in the area for the a/f? Im not sure how it all works but makes since. get it alittle richer in that area. i will switch the MAF out and see what happens send Eric another file and see what he says.

you would have to take a look at the log. it first knocks at 13.48 a/f but still knocks when its at 12.30. weird. you can open the files really easy if you dont have the program its easy to get. go here and you can view it and it doesnt take up much room at all. DonWG i would really like to see what you say if you can view the logs. :) here is a link to the program go to the very bottom and open that one its the latest and greatest.

ok i got 2 more logs. the knock has to be false i dont hear it. also it runs damn good. this is one C16 no alky. i think i need to turn the timing up but i will put it at what you guys think at the track and up the boost some more. anyways here are 2 more logs.
 
I took a look at the very first log so far. Timing looks safe at the point that knock occurs. The MAF makes a pretty large jump at the point of knock along with the IPW. I'm not familiar with how you would adjust chip tuning, only aftermarket ECM stuff. I think you just need more fuel at that rpm/load area. If there is a parameter that allows some acceleration fuel according to MAF rate of increase, that might be worth a try first. Maybe a little of both. Although the fuel could be a little behind the MAF, so it may be better to just increase fuel at the rpm/load point.I also think your WOT a/f could be a little richer.

You don't have to hear knock to be having knock. It could be a mild case. Judging by the a/f during the start of the knock, I'm sure it is knock.
 
thanks don. i really think im at a stand still till i get back from the event. i will get eric to burn me a chip and see if we can get thise area fixed.i dont see how it could be true knock with that low boost on race gas. i guess i could turn it down to about 5 psi and see what happens? anyways all is well from a dead stop so i will take it. anyways its bed time i just droped my car of to get cleaned and polished so its all good :)
