I have a Hobart Handler 140. I agree with the helmet, I have a Miller that works good. My biggest problem is I can't weld for shit. The welder and helmet look impressive though. And no Charlie, JB Weld doesn't count.
I think you mean JB scotch Gary.:ROFLMAO:

To bad you're not here. I'm cooking 3 chuck roasts on the grill right now.:D 4 hours and counting and the 1 I tasted gave me a great idea on how to do the next brisket.;)

And I'm eating leftovers and carry out. Nice. Seriously, the frame looked awesome, nice job Charlie, still miss TX. Anyway, I don't think the equipment is as much an issue as practice and technique. Some of the crap I get into I'm standing on my head and hoping I can soon be double jointed. But for most stuff that is accessible, Stefan, the thicker you want to weld you should go 220v. Panels, exhaust and such most 110 name brands will get you there. I sold welders with Snap-On and we always tried to match usage to the right product. You are more than welcome to mess around with the Hobart here at the shop anytime you want. You just have to bring the family and the dogs!!!

I didn't used to be very good with nothing but a oxyg/acetylene torch, but tried a friends wire feed, and I looks like a pro if the settings are correct, wire speed and power setting. If its popping alot, try slowing down the wire speed and/or power. And use the gas instead of flux core for most steel pieces. Won't hurt to crank the gas pressure up some to get a clean weld.

Well I bought a Hobart Handler 140. Decided best unit for the money. Now I'm gonna have to save some pennies for a good mask for my big head!! I'll have to bring the puppies up to your shop Gary. Right now they have to get their chiblets cut off so that my next expense.
