Yes...
I used a modified Action Fab 3" downpipe when "Hot-Air" It hit everything...
It is good to see things have improved significantly for the "Hot-Air" group.

I don't think they are too pricey... ATR's cost around $850 if I recall what I spent for them way back then...That is alot of welding and time in those pieces! Let's face it... the American dollar just doesn't buy much anymore; as such they must charge you accordingly.
That header set included the 2 1/2 inch stainless downpipe also. I still have the catalogue. So yeah 900.00 is kind of pricey and from the pics the drivers side header looks like the stock unit that has been powder coated. Bottom line if I'm going to spend 900.00 on a set of headers I'll get some custom made.

Question is do they work any better?
brian at Gbody is selling a TA60 set up for a hot air???carbon seal modified and bolt in??? what about TB adapter?

We have a company building us hot air turbos modifying the stock turbos. Toyota carbon seals, never had a failure yet.
The exhaust housings are ceramic coated black. This is to get a nice clean look for the down pipe to bolt to. Heat factor doesn't hurt.
The compressor housing is opened up to 2-3/8" to match the ported throttle body.
We are actually awaiting a billet wheel unit to come in this week & even ball bearing shortly after that. This will not be for every one but it is giving us options. I haven't been able to keep them in stock. I wanted to announce this when we had 10 in stock & ready to go. that just hasn't happened yet. We have been selling these for $600 & a core.
The billet wheel & ball bearing will be more of course.
We are also working on the headers as well. We are looking at taking the T/A passenger & modifying it for the up pipe. The problem we are running into is keeping costs down. TA's for an 86-7 isn't cheap. But neither are their headers. We were contemplating using a 3 bolt flange for the header to up pipe & getting rid of the 2 bolt. Then maybe creating a better fitting up pipe then what is out there currently.
Trying to reach parts that are currently available with not to much labor modifications to keep the price reasonable.
Pictured below is a TA34 we did for Mike K. in CA.

That it is nice.... also I'm glad to hear someone is keeping us hotairs alive by putting in the effort to make parts, hey Brian so 600 + core gets that turbo in the pics? How much bigger is it than a ta33c ? Cfm Flow?
Yes $600 & a core gets you the one in the pic above a TA34 or a 44 ,60 or a 62. I know they can do custom size wheels as well.
I'll get some exact flow #'s & post back.

Back to the stock elbow discussion real quick...
I saw Chris Wilson so 117mph with his hotair( I believe it was an early Turbomotion kit) with the ATR headers/2.5" DP in Vegas like 10 years ago
.Not that it matters now since Brian has a 3" DP...but I guess if anyone was thinking about making their own DP,a 2.5" using the stock elbow will take you farther than most hotair cars go.

We have poston headers here. We have the factory header, Poston's & the new 87 TA style bolted up side by side & getting measurements.
My welder took a dive when we had the 73* day this week. Cold floors warm air. Moisture.
He will be of for a few days licking his wounds. Spoke with Keith this morning about the flow #'s. He is having some family medical problems he is dealing with but should be able to get back to me today with some. Family comes first.

Maybe it should be titled the Week from Hell. Jay Carter has had our Regal
since the Division 2 opener at Gainesville, Fl. 3 weeks ago. He and Nelson
Hernandez have done some major wrenching - upper & lower control arms boxed,
axle snubbers, some re-wiring, welding on major cracks in frame, tightening,
checking everything, installed EGT and even trailered the car to DeSoto in
Bradenton for test & tune last Tues. nite. That's when hell began.
Unloaded, got to the staging lanes and the rains came. It was a frog strangler!
Wed. took the car to Jay's again for a couple more things to be done which
he wasn't happy with. Wed. night we, along with Jay headed to Tampa's 1/8 mile
track. The Track from Hell! 4 passes, one of which Jay made, which is
saying a lot 'cause he hates just getting into the car (it's roll cage was
built for Marka), and according to Jay he just can't drive the car - that's
not true, he can drive it fine he just isn't use to it, yet! (Marka thinks
it's because it's too slow for him, which is a fact.)
Thurs. on the road, again, to Orlando for test & tune at the 3rd track in 3
days!
But got to digress for a minute with: the rest of the story.
BTW, for new list members, this car is a stock '84 TR, non-intercooled!
NHRA factored us cause we were running to fast. Added 5 horsepower putting
us at 230, which required us to add 75 lbs. of weight, now our minimum for
N/SA class is 3,505 lbs. They also took away our M/SA and N/SA records set
last year because of factoring. Then, starting this year NHRA has a new
rule, fondly known as the 115 rule. Basically it says that if you run more
than 115 under your index (13.30 in Marka's case) they can factor you again,
they'll probably tear you down, and the best of all: "we're gonna look real
close at you" - there's so much gray area that it changes from event to
event, track to track, personnel to personnel all to the detriment of the
racer. Anyway at Gainesville she qualified # 1, 1.17 under, ooooops! The
NHRA Tech guys paid us a pit visit and looked over the car, checked some
wiring and basically told us that if we showed up again for an event we'd
probably be torn down. Guess you might as well add into the equation that
Marka is the only female running stock eliminator that we've seen so far and
the good old boys of Div. 2 showed her zero southern hospitality. Also, for
the first time in NHRA history you get paid money for qualifying # 1. Not
only is she stealing their glory but now she into their knickers! And, being
the new kid on the block hasn't made her any friends either!
Thurs. test & tune went fine once you got over having to pay the $100 fee -
let's see that equals $25 per run - yup they're proud of their track!
Fri. was first day of qualifying. Marka's 1st pass was good enough at 1.09
seconds under the 13.30 index to make her # 1, again.
Sat. Jay and Nelson drove over from Tampa. It was also record setting day.
The head of Div. 2 Tech found us in line and found a tremendous amount of
humor in telling us we might as well hammer it since we were going to be torn
down! It was do or die: 2 passes in which to set the record and back it up
within 1%. First pass was perfect. Second pass was perfect and we got the
record 12.26 @ 108.09. We had set the record last Mar. at 12.20 @ 108.42.
Enter Jay and Nelson. Tear down took just over 4 hours, 2 of which was
because of NHRA checking everything on the car, reading their rules & regs,
comparing their specs to us, etc., etc. Jay and Nelson took off the turbo,
intake, both heads, and put everything back together in less than an hour
and a half! NHRA took their magnifying glass to that engine and found
absolutely nothing wrong - in fact we've got room to spare on all their
tolerances, specs, etc.
So, we've got the record back, but the thanks goes to Jay Carter who
has put untold hours and thought into the car, hours of wrenching, time
and effort to be track side with us and going the extra mile for us through
tear down. Can't thank he or Nelson Hernandez enough. Both these guys
turned the week from hell into a bona fide success!
