What’s folks option on some of the newer in-tank pumps for running on E85. My goal is run 25#psi of boost on the 80lb injectors. I want to leave room in case I upgrade turbo.Currently I have 80lb injectors and a Walbro 255lph pump. I believe I am running out of pump once I hit about 19lb boost. The car cuts out in 3rd gear at WOT, I have already upgraded the return line. The feed line is stock.I pulled the tank and everything look ok , but as long as I got tank out I was thinking of upgrading the pump. From what I read a Walbro 255lph pump is too small for 80lb on E85.
Looking at the following and I would like to know what folks have heard. Any good or bad
DW301, - might be ok for know, but will it be ok if I uograde the turbo in the future
Ractronix RXP340M - 340L/Hr
Aeromotive 340 Stealth Fuel Pump
Walbro F90000267- Fuel Pump 430LPH

Correct, 80lb injectors are a little overkill for a 255lph pump. However, unless I'm missing something, a properly functioning single 255lph pump should support more than 19lbs of boost on a stock turbo, even on E85 (for comparison, my GN had a 255lph with a TA60 running 25psi with no problem). Before you dropped the tank did you check if fuel pressure rose 1:1 with boost? That would have been a great place to start so you could rule out, or confirm, if the pump is the issue. FWIW, the car I have now had the same problem you're having. Turned out to be the ignition module...

As far as pumps go, I've only had past experience with DW and Walbro and of the two I'd give the edge to DW but it should be noted I've never had a problem with either. Personally, I would not consider any Racetronix pump. Not because they are bad (I'm sure they're quite good) but based on past experience you might not get any support should you ever need it.

I run e85 with a single intank walbro 430 lphr . I have the racetronics -8 supply and -6 return upgrading to 160s . I did put down close to 600 with the 430 and 80lb injectors

Definitely do NOT get the Aeromotive Stealth pump. They're junk.

I like the DW a lot, and the big Walbro is also excellent. Get a volt booster too. Super important.

I will report back after the engine comes from Nick Micale and Zimmerman Racing, but I just converted over to the AZGN fuel sender and 450L pump. A good friend that lives 5 minutes from me (that has the fastest TSO car and time) always repeats this every time I come across an issue. He says. " a gas engine needs three things, fuel, air, spark. Do NOT starve any of the three. Overkill it, especially the fuel, it will just go back to the tank, starve fuel???? you will be replacing engines!" So spend the money. I didnt. Notice my first sentence??????

I loved my 430 on #120 injectors but upgraded to a DP setup for the #225. I will be selling the complete intank pump with tank once I remove from car. Less than 500 miles, all on E85

I emptied the tank over winter and throw in a little seafoam. I thought it would be a good time to drop the tank and replace the rubber hoses over the axle and on the top of the tank. I open the tank to inspect. It looked good - no issues with E85 and garbage in the tank. Since I had the tank opened, I thought it would be a good time to replace the pump.
It was my impression that 255lph pump was too small fro 80s and E85. I was looking at the dw301 and it think it would work, but after a turbo upgrade would I be getting close to the limit of the DW301? I know plenty of folks make it work, but just looking to the future.
So it lokks like it is down to - unless some know of somthing different.
Ractronix RXP340M - 340L/Hr
Walbro F90000267- Fuel Pump 430LPH

Also can a person go too big. I have upgraded the return to a -6

The DW300 will run out of fuel before the injectors. We had that pump and switched to the walbro 430 which will allow us to run out of injector first. We run 80s

When planning mods its helpful to establish a goal. What are yours?

Looking to get 25lb on the 80s. Eventually a bigger turbo maybe next year. But as long as I got the tank out and cleaning it up and replacing the rubber hoses in the back I might as well do the pump so I don't need to worry about it down the road.

For folks that switched to the walbro 430 lphr. What needs to be done to convert. What modifications to the hanger. I assume that this is not just a straight drop in.

you didn't have something right ... a DW300 will exceed what 80's can handle

80's and a dw300 will get you enough power to run in the 10's on E85 .. there are probably other things in your setup that will be the limiting factor before the pump / injectors

Not on our car. Then again we run atleast e85 here sometimes e90.

Voltage, lines, filters, ethanol content etc all play a roll as you already know. However we started to see the pump drop pressure so before hurting anything we moved up.

Also with the larger pump we can run our e85 -e98 mix and still have room.

Must have been running a boat load of rail pressure because even @ 55 psi on the rail .. ive never ever seen a DW pump run out before the 80's ... and I've pushed those to just under 130 but they were ALL IN ! and the pump still had room .

I think the DW301 would work very well with my current setup, but I want to have room to grow.
What is needed regarding hanger modifications. it is my understanding that DW301 and the Ractronix RXP340M - 340L/Hr are drop in with the factory hanger.
What need to be done when switching to the walbro 430 lphr??

We started using the Walbro 400/450 pump a few years ago, and so far it has the best output of any single in-tank fuel pump other than a submersible Aeromotive 1100 series pump which is mounted on the tank floor instead of a hanger.

The problem with most in-tank pumps is improper and inadequate wiring. The performance and flow ratings on most in-tank pumps is with a good power source at 13.5 volts and a proper ground to the battery. Generally we like to see pump voltage of 14+ volts at WOT in a performance build to be on the safe side.

A GN has run high 9's with one DW301 pump with a hose line kit and additional voltage.

I am confident that one 450 in-tank pump can supply enough e-85 to run into the 9's which is ~650 RWHP in a GN, and we will be testing such a system over the next few months
