Well, I have read some articles here and there concerning the "last Grand National built". From what I have read, there's some debate. Some say the last one built went to a GM employee who won a drawing for the car. Others say the last one built went to Robert Colvin, a car dealer in Louisiana.

Now IMO, if you go by the definition of "built", Colvin's car takes the title seeing as it is the last car to roll down the assembly line. But if you go by VIN, Mr. Morgan (GM Employee) has the final VIN numbered car.

Either way, they are both pieces of TB History that I personally find pretty cool.

Well, all of this blabber is here due to the fact that I just got off the phone with Robert Colvin's brother, James. He told me Bob still has the GN. It's tucked away in a very safe place. He also told me I was welcome to come over and take some pics of the car and check it out. Needless to say, I will be doing this especially considering the car resides about an hour and a half from my house and about 45 minutes from where my parents live.

James took my number and said his brother would definitely be calling me back soon so we could talk cars and make arrangements for me to come look at the Last GN Built.

I figured some people here might take interest in this topic. So here's a thread. As soon as I have pics (probably Tuesday of next week), they will be posted up.

Until then...

it wont be thrilling to look at in stock form, but still very cool to see the one that ended it all. Hopefully its little or no miles and plastic still in it.

I just talked to Bob himself. Looks like everything is good for Tuesday. He is all about letting me come take a look at it.

The car is kept in it's own climate controlled bedroom in the mans house. It has 14 miles on the clock and is in the exact condition it was in when it finished the ride down the line.

the last 6 of mine is

464928 - post the last #s of the car so I will have a comparison to mine please thanx

mine is 464882 build date 12/2. Whats your build date? This was the date on the paper under the rear seat.

call me a fool, but I don't see the big deal looking @ the last GN built. it looks just like every other LOW mileage garage queen.

It's not like I'm driving cross country to go look at the car. The owner lives 35 or so miles from my parents house. I happen to be going to visit them on Monday and am going to make a short drive to look at the car on Tuesday.

Of course, as mentioned in the initial post, I personally find the car interesting and figured I'd share with others who might also. If you don't find any interest in it, that's cool, too.

AMEN, ust kinda neat. My last 87 had a build date of 12/87....... off to find the VIN:biggrin:

Bob does own the last GN made. It is actually the last G-body ever made also. The car was built 12/11/1987 and the VIN ends in 65288. The car is pretty thrilling in stock form as it carries some special markings the plant workers put on it.

sixbangr

build date of 12-02 on paper behind rear seat or else thats what day they printed the paper. They must have produced a lot of GNs on that day , huh?

Barron,

Let me know when you plan on heading over there. I would like to see this car too!

The pic of the last GN built that i seen had all or alot of the assembly line workers signature all over the turbo sheild and up pipe ?

Here are some pics. The room was tight, so there aren't really any good side shots. But here are the pics anyway. It's a really cool, very nice car. And the owner is a very cool guy who is a major gear-head with a TON of various automotive related memorabilia & literature as well as a few other cars I will try to get pics of next time I am up that way.

WOW!! Very cool... With all those documents, pictures, signatures & 14 miles.

I can just imagine what that would bring at Barrett-Jackson!!!

Someone wouldn't be just buying a car, they would be buying a Shrine!!
