The infamous high horsepower making 70 GTQ turbo has hit the market with ball bearings! It finally arrived at the door today. The inlet hsg is a .75 A/R 4 inch inlet with a 3 inch outlet. The turbine hsg is a .85 A/R. The old turbo it's replacing is my 10 year old TE-70 P trim. Maybe this is my secret part that will take the car into the 9's.

Old turbo: TE-70 P trim with a .55 A/R inlet hsg and a .85 turbine hsg...

What are those going for?

I was thinking of buying that turbo but I think a P trim is better for my combination.

If you are going to use the "exhaust housing" exhaust hole for boost control you "may" need to enlarge it so you don't get boost creep.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was going to match it up with my downpipe flange. I'll also have to redesign the oil pressure inlet tube a bit. Once it's attached it appears it's going to hit the inside of the turbo cover.

I hope this turbo spools as good as the 70 P trim that's on the car now. The bad thing is I'm not going to push the car hard until after the GS Nationals. Plans are to drive the car there and back. After that it's off to the dyno and then to the dragstrip.

HOLY CH!T going from the small housing on your old 70 and from the p-trim im sure you will make much more HP.... LOOKS NICE:cool: CONGRATS

That think is a crank chunker I bet!!!! Nice, can't wait for results!!!!

Price was a little over 2K with the water line kit. I figured since it's been 10 years since I bought the last turbo I'd go ahead splurge on a nice one. Now if this one will last that long I'd be satisfied.

Sweet.
Looks like you're one of the first to get one. You are gonna love it.
BTW, can you take some more pics of the center section and the part number label? You should be fine with spool up. You're definitely gonna need to add more fuel your first times out. You easily just picked up 60-70hp from your old one.

I just got finished putting it on. I have a external gate ATR downpipe that doesn't have a thick flange like the newer pipes so it's warped bad. The gap is at least .035 of an inch wide. So at the moment I have a massive exhaust leak on the bottom. Even with that leaking it seems to spool just as fast as the old 70 P Trim I took off. On the bright side, the car has a nasty whistle when going through town from stop light to stop light.:D The car hasn't had that since I had a much smaller turbo on it years ago. The 70 P Trim didn't like to whistle unless it was at full throttle.

The oil feed fitting to the bearings has a .040" restrictor.

Patrick, here's your picture. I don't have any at the moment of the CHRA.

Excellent, thanks Turbo1dr.
Yes, all of the dual bb turbos for Buick setups come with that -4 AN reducer fitting and yes, they need it. Any more oil and it would flood the cartridge and leak oil out both ends. Once you get that exhaust leak fixed, you are gonna love the spool up. You definitely have 9 second potential now. Also, you won't have to launch with as much boost as you did before cause the spool up will come on much quicker now. If you were leaving at 12-15, try leaving at 10 and see if it short times the same, if not better. I'm gonna predict it will.
Can't wait to hear about your results. To my knowledge, you are the first to post pics of this new turbo, and will probably be the first to post some results.
Have fun and keep us posted.
Thanks again for the pics.

Patrick
