I've seen a few TR's with seat conversions from pillow-back (limited style) to more modern f-body seats.

Would you guys mind posting up some pics and specs (frame rail mods, etc) that you've done or seen done?

I'm thinking about swapping out my stock grey T interior in favor of something more comfy-like Recaro's or something along that line but will still try to maintain the solid grey color -possibly still in cloth. The stock seats will be stored but I need something comfortabel for daily commuting and long distcnace driving and yes, the occasional turn... ;)

A lot of GM's bucket seats will bolt in you just need to use the regal seat tracks on the new seats. Most of the Camaro and Firebird seats will work If the search button works for there have been many discussions on seats.

I did a search but I didn't find many pics. I know I've seen a few so I'm trying to get them all in one thread so I can look at the various options as opposed to spending hours searching for the right seat...

I found these seats, which are a bolt in, in various 90s Buick Park Avenues. All power of course with power recliner.

While they look very comfy, those seats don't seem very supportive. I'm leaning more towards a recaro style with good lumbar support as well as lateral support. Even limited driving with the GN kills my back. :frown: That's why I'm looking for different options.

Thanks, by the way, for taking the time to post the pic.

Hey, no problem. Comfort was my goal ... on a budget. Complete interiors in boneyards are quite cheap. I don't have to tell you that the stock Regal seats leave a lot to be desired in the comfort margin. I've heard the 90s-00s firebird seats are a bolt in, though I've not had personal experience with them. They are more of a racey, recaro style. Look on Ebay. ;)

I found some pix of 2000 Firebird seats in a Turbo T, HERE.

I drove a 83 Camaro from PGH, PA to PHILLY,PA and when I got out my back was killing me. I picked up a 87 Caprice police car that had the hardest seats I ever sat in and I THOUGHT MY BACK IS DONE. Well half way across the state my back never felt better. By the way it was graet because I could do 85 mph and the troopers along the road would just wave.

dont mean to steal the thread but what are you guys doing about the center console on these cars. i cant find a comfortable place to rest my arm...?

There's some goofy looking armrests offered by some of the vendors. I got a leather armrest from late model GMs (Caddies, Park Avs, 98 Regencies) and Velcroed it to the stock TR console. Works great ... cupholder and all. My GN photo is above and here's my T...

Gangsta lean of course! j/k

Hey Red thanks again for the pics. Those seat in the T were along the lines of what I was thinking. (the back seats look a little slippery though)

As for an early 80's camaro, those seats are crap. I had one and it was not comfortable at all. I currently have some newer cars and so far the most comfortable seat has been in my WRX. However, the highback (racing style) seat makes it harder than a regular seat for backing up.

BTW, was that console on the T from a Blazer? Looks like it came with the car. I too am looking for a substitute to the obligatory "lean".

Those grey leather seats and armrest are in my Grand National. Late model Caddies, and other GM models will supply the armrests. Just Velcro to the stock console. You can still get in there, too, though a little tight. :D

Red Regal T...

Did the rear seat fit right in too?

Do you remember exactly the car? ... it looks great.

Thanks,
Eric

Yes, the back seats fit right in and look factory. The grey leather seats in my GN came out of a 91 Park Av. However, I have a set in my garage that are the same from a 96 Park. So, they are available in different year park Ave's. A couple catches... They are four door seating, so the seat back only moves to vertical and do not fold over like two door seats. Another thing is that they come in 60/40 seating. I was able to get two passenger seats from two different Park Avenues. The use of the driver side wouldn't permit use of a console. I used the 60/40 in my Red T, and eliminated the console. When you get leather seats, if you need to you can make them any color with the use of SEM vinyl paint. I did the ones in my RED T, which were originally blue, BLACK.

Here's my Scat ProCar seat I put in my WE4.

Drove the GN today and now my back hurts. :p

The ProCar seat has real good foam in it and has held up well to daily driver use for the past 10 years.

Not sure if they make the G body seat rails anymore or this same model.

All black cloth and manual tilt and it ratchets forward to the steering wheel too for back seat access.

Did I mention it has real foam in it? :D

I made the seat belt holder out of stainless bar and 1/8" rod bent up and welded.

I really like the way those look, but I was wondering, what did he do for the back seat? It looks like he got someone to make him a cover for the original seat using the leather that matched the Firebird... If the rear bucket like seats out of the Firebird would fit, even my passengers would be able to ride in great comfort :D

could one use the interior out of a 2 door model of the same year like say seats from a 94 buick regal. would the gn seat brackets bolt on to the bottom of the 94 buick regal seats. My car doesn't have power seat options and I don't want them either, but I would like manual leather seats! Just curious
