The pump in my SMC kit has stopped working. I had not tested it the particular day that it stopped, and fortunatly I dont think any damage was done.

When I hit the test button, I can hear a click(sounds like a relay) but the pump does not work at all. I haven't contacted SMC yet, but was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and replaced the pump on thier own etc...

Thanks,
Jeff

pump

when, ever i had aproblem wITH mine.isent it back to SMC.STEVEIS
A GREAT GUY.GOOD LUCK

SMC

I think I have the same problem but have never looked into it yet.

I have only fired mine a couple of times due the the fact I run good fuel most of the time.

I tried it a while back and no light, not even on the test button?

Funny thing, I turn it off and it lights up under boost but not spraying? I ended up just unplugging it.

My Dad has one and loves it, I think it is a great kit.

I too need to look into this. Not too worried they seem like a stand up company.

that "click" that you hear when you press the test button is just the controller box...contact Steve about the issue and he will definitely fix you up...he's an awesome guy to deal with...you guys need to always keep alcohol in the tank and try to keep it full most of the time and USE the klotz lube at all times...otherwise the pump will dry up and not work...ask me how i know this one

Do yourselves a favor.........go with a SUREFLO pump and a one gallon Alky reservoir. No gooky Klotz required. You might not be so lucky next time. ;)

Come on Red you know the reason Klotz is made in the first place is methanol cars. ;)

J. D. got two quarts of that stuff, at a capful a tankful gonna take me a few years to lose it, the Klotz that is. :p

Just think what's happening to your valvetrain using that cheap methanol without da top engine lube. ;)

Nothing will happen. The racing methanol you get already has lube added. Unless you order it without.

Then you have your PCV system sucking in oil vapor into the engine. Coating the inside of the intake. Finally the gasoline has oil in it.

The reason klotz is made for methanol is for cars running 100% straight methanol as a fuel all the time. We run pump gas and a percentage of that will be methanol at high boost only.

Your lube is needed to lubricate the pump on the SMC kit. PERIOD ..

Here is what Klotz is really for. :)

"Klotz Uplon Fuel Lube provides upper cylinder and fuel pump lubrication. Protects the induction and fuel delivery systems from the dry, abrasive properties of methanol alcohol. Uplon Fuel Lube increases horsepower by reducing power robbing friction. Seal conditioners maintain constant fuel pressure and prevent lean-out conditions. Blends with gasoline and methanol alcohol."

And we all know methanol is far more corrosive than ethanol, PERIOD.
:p

Would you believe, that after only 270,000 "original" miles, without using any klutz at all, my cast pistons are corroding. :(

Stock pistons are tough. Worry about those valves. ;)

Do a multi-angle valve job and a bit of home porting and call them stock. :p

Why you looking at those pistons anyway? You should be out driving.

I have one that is five years old and another that is four years old...no deaths
