Didn't Ruggles design and run several aggressive/fast ramp cams years ago? I still run one of his designs
In a small 210-205.

I would like to see these cars get it done on pump gas alone.
Seems like we can't barely get into low 11's without Alky

Pump gas sucks....plain and simple. Trying to go really really fast on pump gas, especially when boosting is like trying to be a porn star with a 5" member. The effort needed to achieve your goal just isn't worth it I'm sure someone will chime in with some freak of nature car and miracle tune but anytime any turbo buick in either my garage or a buddies was running even high high 11s on just pump around 18-20#s there was almost always knock detected.
I mean it gets done and can get done...but at what cost to reliability and overall well being to the motor. When old mans twin turbo nova switches to the pump gas tune the boost gets cut in 1/2.
I'd like to see camshafts be the next big thing.
the cars that do it arnt buicks
Exactly I know we have a fastest pump gas/ alky list but you got me curious as to what the fastest straight pump gas buick is now.
There are plenty of car that are capable of making 9 sec power on 93 octane. Turbobitt went 9.6x @18psi. I wouldn't doubt the car is capable of running 9's with 15-16psi.It's probably not much faster than low 11's high tens, and that's probably pushing the detonation threshold.
There is plenty of cars out there making more power than us when it comes to straight pump gas, why? I have no idea.

RPM... Need rpm to make 9 second power on pump gas and low boost,What's the limiting factors when it comes to that?

Didn't attempt it yet but feel it could be done. Just didn't feel the need to risk it on a pump gas tune. You are for sure on a short list if not on top with a 9.60 on pump gas.
That is the intent of the thread, from my perspective anyway. Newer cam profiles and the availability of aluminum heads can make these things possible. So the cam would have to be specd in such a way as to allow the rpm to be useful? Same goes for converter I assume?
Sounds like an expensive valvetrain

Just a well thought out one ...Sounds like an expensive valvetrain
