Swapping to stage heads

So I almost have everything to do the swap . I just received the cam from Bo at boost crew . It’s all ready and machined for a gear drive . I still need to ether get a new bigger 4 bolt turbo or swap my CT43 6871 to a 4 bolt housing. The headers will place my turbo forward facing so a new down pipe will also have to be fabricated. I also have 2 intake manifolds . One of them is from a indy car but this one is the only ones I have ever seen that has individual throttle bodies. It also has rectangular ports for regular stage heads not square indy ports . The big hurdle with this intake is it was ment to go on a short deck indy block so I would need to make some spacers to make it work with a regular hight stage block .

Cool parts, IMO I would just run the converted carb intake and keep it simple until you get it up and running.

BTW what are your plans for the TA heads once you swap?

I agree with Chris, stick to the converted carb intake. That thing should make some good power. Good luck with this set up, it's gonna be a handful to drive if everything is done right.

I will probably just stick with the carb intake just to make my life alil easier. Not sure what I’m going to do with my TA SE heads . I did put a lot of work into them so idk if I want to sell them or keep them .

Just out of curiosity what do you think your TA heads would be worth?

Also whats the difference from the TA se heads vs the stage heads? Sorry for the dumb question im still learning.

If I sold my TA heads I would probably ask 1800 seeing the rockers alone where a G . And the difference between the two is the stage heads can flow a lot more cfm over the TA heads .

Sweet parts!
I've never seen those valve covers or intake torn down that far before. Could you post a few more pics of that 90* t-body elbow on the cast intake? That looks like a sweet one off piece. Was it Indy racing related, or did someone make a run of those elbows back in the day? I also would recommend sticking to with the carbed manifold. The individual t-bodies just have too many things that could lead to catastrophic failure in my book.
Thanks for sharing.

Do you think it will still be fun on the street? From what I've read the stage heads are pretty much don't like to be under 4000rpm.

Thanks for sharing some photos of your current build. How much horsepower are you shooting for?

Interested in heads and rockers if you decide to part with them

It’s all about the setup . The heads I have aren’t all ported out to the max . They are old Indy car heads ment for a turbo so they didn’t go to crazy with porting . So I believe they will be fine .

Dank GN you will have no problems on the street with those stage heads, i had that combo on my 4.1 stage motor and it spooled really quick. If you run compression you will be very happy.

It’s currently at 10.5:1 and I plan on keeping it around that when I swap . I have had several ppl ask me about my TA heads as of now I’m going to keep
Them on the shelf as I have put a lot of work into them and have a lot of cash tied up in them . So unless someone wants to give me about what I have tied up in them I’m just going to keep them for a future build .

You ever find out your issue? Did you pull the pan?

Yes I did pull the pan and everything looked good. I pulled the rockers off and it turned over completely. So after I pull the heads I’m sure I will find something that isn’t right with them .

Starting to get the stage heads setup as far as spring heights and pressures go .

Thanks that’s my raptor 50
I like the raptor...
AG.
yes it’s dangerously fun to fly . It has just about a 5’ radius of spinning blades of serious hurt lol .
Make sure you have the cam to take advantage of the heads, lift and duration very important.
I have a very mild cam that will work well for my application. From the research I’ve done they say if you have good flowing heads you can cut back on the lift and duration. If you believe differently please let me know what you think would be a good street / strip cam for stage heads .
