On average, what kind of mph should I be getting with 19-20psi boost with 93oct 0.0 knock? What would be a safe limit on boost be with 42.5lb injectors with 100oct be about? I was told that my TE62 should easily be 120+ mph with that level off boost/conditions. Best Ive been able to clack off with my set-up was a 12.22 @ 114mph - which Ive been told by quite a few people is terrible for my combo? Any ideas? -Ben

I used to run 118 MPH with a 61 and a stock motor not including valve springs so yes I think you have to find.

Need more info, what is your 60ft time, are you locking the converter? You would have to raise the boost more for that Te62 to do its job more like 22-24 bur with 0 knock. Are you running alky if no you will need to soon.

Cam is a little big for no ported heads.

You do not have enough injector for that turbo.

I was running 121 mph with a 61 and 009 42.5 , it was at 23-24 psi and 24-25° of timing on 110 race gas and some meth added on to get the mixture right.

114 is good mph, pretty darned good for 93 octane and no methanol.

If you get the boost where it should be 24-26 psi, timing up around 23 to 25° and have enough injector, the car will probably go 122 or more depending on torque convertor.

Work on the 60 foot, get some injectors for it or a methanol kit. You would gain at least 5mph with more boost(if you have enough octane)

Turbo

The Heads are ported, and yes I do agree that I am running a lil too small of an injector for the MPH I would like to be at. If Im at 19PSI with 0 knock shouldnt I be able to get away with 22-24PSI boost with 100OCT @ 19* timing that I have now? The converter is a 3000 9X11 converter from PTS. I DOOO need some suspension mods tho - best 60' was a 2.0 last year :frown:

You should not need ANY suspension mods to get below 2.0...Just tires.

+1 with a bias ply et street 26" tall on my dads we4 we had a best 60 of 1 57.... thats was with a stock d5 converter and a te44 turbo.

I know with the 009 injectors we had alot of trouble leaning the car out well enough down low... just leaning it out helped ALOT

I have basic suspension mods and not much money in the rear suspension, and I can cut a 1.57 short time on 255/50/16 MT DRs; with a relatively soft 5psi launch. I run my TE-62 at 26-27psi on 93 pump & meth at all times. My ProTorque 9.5" 32-3400 stall seems to be working great with my 62. Im also running MSD50s with a single 340 and had to lean it out. Id say get a wideband and go from there. I picked up 5/10ths and 5MPH just by installing a wideband. Still stock heads and cam with Comp 980 valvesprings.

Best ET so far is 11.48 and best MPH is 115.99. 100% street car @ 3700lbs. with me in it with working everything and 36mm front swaybar too...

I will step in and give Scottie some major props.... he made some HUGE gains this year (even pushed a stock turbo into the 11s not many people can say that)... IMO the big thing that helped scott this year was learning to take a few minutes and look at what the car is doing. Scott is a lot like most of us racing on a very limited budget and look what his car has run  There is no reason the OP's car will not run a mid 11 its just a matter of learning how to get the car there. ;)

No way. 100 octane doesn't help much from my experience. You can raise the timing and boost up only a little, and neither very high. Go with either a race gas mix or alky. I agree that you've run pretty good for no true race gas or alky. People that say thats terrible don't know much. Until you have the fuel to raise the timing and boost, you won't go much faster.

Thanks Jim. Your car didnt do too bad either last year buddy. I think a good selection of parts that work together and a good TUNE is what make these cars run. That and good traction always helps. The money I spent on my WB setup was the BEST IVE EVER SPENT ON MY GN. I didnt do this all by myself and have alot of people to thank, including Jim.

BTW the getting the stock turbo in the 11s took time and wasnt easy by any means. Yes it was tweaked a little along with other but it was a true non-GNX stock Buick turbo. PS that was '08 when I broke 11s with the stocker, but who's counting lol.

As soon as I get my rear rebuilt I'll be out there at Cecil givin' it some more hell!:D

I totally missed that he was only on 93...Lots more left with octane and boost.

I have an AEM wideband, at WOT the A/Fs are between 12.1-12.3. Was told this was the safe limit with a stock bottom end and theres 0.0 knock there so I felt that was okay. I can get 111 here, but doesnt that eat 02s up? I'm not a big fan of alky at all - would rather just get there with 100oct. My overall goal is just 11s and/or 120+MPH really. After that, Im done and happy with the car. -Ben

Duuuuuude thats way to LEAN WAY TOO LEAN!!

Target air fuel ratio on a TURBO car should be 11.0 to 11.4

Its seriously way to lean, get some injectors and shoot who ever told you to run it at 12.1 to 12.3

too lean?

I thought that if it went lean, thats when knock happends? I was always told that as long as theres no knock its not lean... I'm only running about 40-41psi fuel pressure, should I try upping it and setting the translator to a richer setting then till new injectors arrive?? -Ben

Use the search feature, or google if you dont believe me.

I suggest you dont floor it until you start tuning it with bigger injectors or a meth kit.

Maybe your knock sensor is unplugged.

Its lean but not way to lean.... he isn't running alky.... With alky my target ratio is 11.0-11.2. I would richen it up to 11.8 or so but low 11s on just gas it too rich imo

Oh no, the knock sensor works - trust me  I will probably just end up caving and coughing up the money to be going with 60lbers and extender extreme chip. Between those, suspension work and running good 100oct with boost at 20-22psi with a lil bit better a/f should get me there with a sticky tire hmmm?

Just curious as to why you don't like alky?
So many guys on here use it with great results, including myself.
