It must be the advertisements in the threads another v-bulletin board I go to with ads is slow like this one (trucking boards) however I go to another v-bulletin board (motown muscle) that doesn't have them in threads(still has ads) is not as slow.

The "Snowflakes" are what's displayed when the thread doesn't have any pictures. if the thread has pics, like in the For Sale/Trade - you will see thumbnails of the pics in the thread.

As far as the search - It works fine if you want to learn how to use it. I personally use Google to search the site - just easier for me.

Go to Google, and type "site:turbobuick.com "search term"" (replace "search term" with what you want to search) - works fine.

I have never had an issue with speed, it may be the Packard Bells you're still rocking.
