I have all of this stuff from my 84 engine after I pulled it. Some of the parts have been sold, but a LOT of it is still there. EVERYTHING WILL GO to whoever wants to trade. I will sell individual parts if need be.
The headers are there. They have been welded. The intake is gone as well as the crank, oil pan, and oil dipstick.http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/gallery/files/1/7/7/2/4/100_0950_thumb.jpg[/img

Everything except for the inner fender =-)

sell you a 109 block with caps for $300 plus shipping from connecticut

No thanks, trade only. And I think that is too much.

That is a lot of stuff i am trading as well.

why not just use the 84 engine for a budget build up. the 84-85 motor will handle a good bit power before breaking.

The 84-85 blocks will handle the same amount of power as a 109.

Caps alone are $150 for 2 and $225 for 3. Then add in the line bore and hone, $300-400 from the machine shop, washing the block,$75 and the $100 studs.
Block weight is 130 lbs. or so try to ship that... . And you say $300 plus shipping is too much...

That is my bad then. I did not know that the 109's were going for that much now. I would still rather trade all that I have for a 109. I dont want to use an 84-85 block because I dont want to drill for the oil drain back tube.

Also, is his block that is for 300, line bored adn hones, washed, and come with studs? Also, is his caps the billet ones with the turbo 6 emblem?

Yup, Rob got it and is working on it now. He was happy with his deal.

Oh well. Im wanting one with the drain hole already there from the factory. Do you guys think all of the stuff that I have is a fair trade for a 109 block with the hole?

just tap a hole in yours.a lot of the 109 blocks around are NA blocks that need the hole tapped as well. it is not really that hard for a machinist to do it.just make sure you have a drain back tube to give as well because the thread is probably a pipe tap meaning that it is tapered and you could possibly go either to deep or not deep enough that is why you should drain back that way it is perfect

So, is there really no difference between the 109's without the hole, and the hot air block?

Also, what do you guys think about building a 4.1 or 4.3? litre engine? Is it basically the same thing as our blocks, just a larger bore? Is one or the other stronger due to more metal being able to be bored out, or just plain strength?

no difference except the hole-------and its simple to do this------since its a pipe thread even a plumber could do it-------my memory says it a 1/2 inch NPT-------its location is not even critical since the line that feeds it is flexible--------as for your trade------it will be a rare person that would trade even a complete 84/85 engine for a good 109 block..........RC

Isnt somewhere on the 86-87 blocks thicker, like around the cylinder walls, or down where the oil pan bolts on making the block a little weaker? Something I thought was a little different that made the 109 block, breathe, hold more power, etc.

No Same Animal!

I might as well just keep my 84 block then, and use that! lol If you guys are saying that it will hold the same amount of power. Can you bore these out much, and if so, do you get a noticeable gain in power handling over the stock bore? I mean being able to put bigger pistons in there.

The block is not as strong as a 109. The 109 n/a and turbo has more meat in the lifter valley and stronger webbing. Go find your self a 86/87 3.8 n/a car for 300 to 500 bucks that is rotting out get the 109 out of it and part the rest and make your money back. Then you got a free 109 block. Use the turbo crank out of your 84 motor.
