Ladies and gentlemen,

Just like the title states, What do you like and also dislike about your precious Turbo Buick. There has to be something that bugs the living crap out of you and you can't seem to fix it, change it or replace it. While on the other hand, there has to be something special about your car that keeps you throwing money into it.

I'll get the ball rolling.

LIKE
The stance. It looks mean and vicious.
The way it idles. Makes you feel like the engine is off.
Chick Magnet. Hey atleast my girlfriend digs it.
The famous Darth Vader look.
Tuneable Performance. Hey it doesnt cost money.

Dislike
Engine Bay. Whats up with all these wires.
Dash Gauges. Where is everything else at.
GNX Style rims with a sticker on the cap.

Like:

It's the last full frame mid sized car by GM
It's silly fast, yet docile
Not everyone has one
It has the triangulated 4 link
It has the sturdy 8.5 rear
It has the overdrive auto
It's comfortable to drive on long trips and still bust almost everyone elses balls
It's a sleeper. (somewhat)
Those in the know give you respect even if it is only a little V6

Dislike:

It's american but the bolts are metric.
That damned powermaster brake system
Thieves are attracted to it
Sloppy handling
Parts seem harder to come by/more expensive
Never came avaliable with a manual
Too many boneheads talking about they had a factory twin turbo model or "my dad's is an ex FBI V8 model"
Insurance company doesn't recognize it as anything but "just an old Regal"
Those not in the know think it's grandpas ride.

But at the end of the day I still love it.

It is the fastest car GM made but has the worlds slowest power windows.
It came with the worst paint job known to man.
It rattled like a marble in a tin can until I braced the crap out of it.

It is the most sinister looking car on the planet.
It is easy to make go even faster without removing the engine.
It is just the best overall car ever made.Performance and fuel economy.

You wont understand any of this until you own one.;)

Coach

The Bad

Never runs
Rusted out
Expensive parts

The good.

IMO the most badass car GM ever produced.
Handles great (at least mine does:biggrin:)
Car stays at a certain RPM and keeps pulling like hell
What else can I say its a Buick

I like my car.

Dislikes:
No cup older...at least one
Lack of gauges...the GNX dash should of been a factory option
The power seat is too tall for us tall guys...but its nice to brag about
They are always mistaken for the Monte Carlo SS:mad:
The pass. side bottom head bolt in the rear is hard to get and its a V-6
People always "assume" it's a 10 second car.
Upper door pull strap is a ticking time bomb... and the screw covers disappear
Why did the put 4X10s in the rear deck...
Why is a stripped down "T" faster than a stripped down "GN"?

Likes:
Quiet compared to the V-8s
Much better on gas
Women like it...and are jealous of it;)
Much more comfortable that an F-Body
Feared... Yet admired:cool:
We have the ability to scare off the few guys that are faster than us.
I truly think we are the reason everyone is going into the Turbo V8 fad.
Keeps its streetability while being modded.
Stock parts still work like fans, rear end, block, heads, etc...
The owners tend to get along so much better than the other groups.

I hope to always own one.:D

The good:

- Always gets a comment at the gas station. My Mustang never does even though it is super clean and really nice in its own right.
- The history behind these cars. It was my dream car in high school ever since I saw one break the tires loose while already going 45mph on our local cruise strip.
- The turbo whistle. There's nothing quite like listening to that through a K&N.
- At car shows, my car seems to get the most attention in its class. There are always people gathering around telling their friends their interpretation of Turbo Regals, fact or fiction.
- The history behind these cars. Oh wait, I said that already. :)
- There is just no other car like it from that era. Sure, you have Monte SS cars that now have more potent engines, but no other car had the alure.

The bad:

- It's quiet and goes un-noticed for the most part at stoplights when there are other hot cars around.
- Since Fast N Furious, more kids know what these cars are. The ricers seem to swarm like angry inept bees trying to get a race.
- It takes more nowadays to stay ahead of the pack. It wasn't hard in the 80's and 90's, but there are a lot of potent factory stockers out there now.
- Always worrying about something being not quite right with the car from a tuning standpoint.
- I worry parking it anywhere. I'll never forget when a new Target store opened up in my town. I parked it at least 20 spaces away from anyone and when I came out there was a plastic shopping cart shoved against the rear quarter. Luckily, since the cart was plastic I was able to buff out the scrape since it was just plastic residue.
- Handling, but that's my fault. I always have to remember I am not in my Cobra when doing some spirited driving.

Likes:
Most everything.

Dislikes:
The lame factory dash/gauge system.

Letting off the transbrake button and going wheels up :cool:

Doing it with no "driving music":mad:

The bad:
No cupholders/armrest
It's a General Motors product (no matter how hard I try I can't wash that off)
Full frame car that's weaker than a unibody, also it's a rattle trap (t tops)
My 10 yr. old minivan handles better
Can never get a good exhaust sound so don't waste your time trying
It will rust clear to the door handles if you show it a picture of snow.
Constant struggle to keep the tune good (always new plugs/o2/fresh gas/oil)
Rear main would leak even if you had no oil in it.
My wife doesn't undestand the turbo lag concept, so I hate to let her drive it because she'll wrap it around a pole.

The good:
Runs, drives, and rides like any other buick on the road, 20+ mpg in OD with a/c and cruise. But when it's foot to the floor time it'll outrun most other cars that are less streetable.

bad - trying to get it tuned correctly without paying $1,000 (be my guest)
good - watching people break there necks trying to figure out what it is since it's not black.

good question. my answer is simply, i like the way it is...wholly (i guess that is, for now)

Too many boneheads talking about they had a factory twin turbo model or "my dad's is an ex FBI V8 model"

SOO True. :D:D
I've had a couple people at the gas station ask me if that was a GNX and if it had twin turbos. I would tell them no, its a Grand National with only one turbo and they would walk away thinking I have a knock off or something.
I've also been asked if its a GNX and when I reply no its a Grand National, they always seem to respond back with "You should of bought a GNX they are faster with 2 turbos":eek:
What matters is that I know what I have :D:D

Likes:
They're really fast
Mustangs and other supposedly "fast" cars never know what hit 'em
Pretty easy to work on
I'm usually the only one representing TR's at any car show I go to. (ok this might be a dislike too...:()
Still reasonably priced considering what you're getting
Legendary status (Everyone seems to have a story about one... Usually involving a beat down administered by the TR in the story)
Some people actually think the other colored TR's are slow
My exhaust with a 3" cutout:biggrin:

Dislikes:
The 87Gn is the only real fast one. besides the GNX:rolleyes: 86 models are way slower...
Black is so hard to keep clean
Can't take it anywhere without worrying about dings or thieves:mad:
Can't buy a race (except from a 1993 Jeep cherokee or some honda)
Seats have no support

Likes: All my friends tell me how bad ass its gonna be when it is done;)
Looks mean just sittin there:biggrin:
It doesn't look like a giant bubble
It's different
It's a gbody

Dislikes: Gee where do I start?
Can't do a damn thing on it without my shoulder hurting the next day
No armrest doesn't help that either
interior doesn't line up worth a crap
I have yet to own a regal that the front clip, hood, and doors line perfectly
No where to put a 20oz Dew
Everytime you take an interior bezel off half the clips fall behind the dash
the seat belts are uncomfortable
There's always a rattle somewhere
It doesn't take much to break one of those 20 yr old emblems
It always seems like something JUST ISN'T RIGHT:mad:
The brand new NOS shifter handle that came with my car is already turning a weird color.

Dislikes: That sorry @ss excuse of a stereo setup in these. Sounds about as good as the factory radio delete stripper camaro my friend had in high school. Hmm...I'm noticing a trend;)

Dislike:
Runs like a BB but doesn't sound like one.

It is the fastest car GM made but has the worlds slowest power windows.
It came with the worst paint job known to man.
It rattled like a marble in a tin can until I braced the crap out of it.

It is the most sinister looking car on the planet.

I agree 100% and could not have said it better!

But one thing I'll add is I love the heck out of the fact I never get speeding tickets with my car because I can't keep it running long enough!

Loves:

- A legend/cult car. Everyday I have someone comment, chat, or give me a thumbs-up. I have never owned a car that gets as many looks as this car does.

- Evil looking car- Meanest looking car ever made. When GM designed the "look" of the car, they did everything right!

- Extremely tunable and durable engine (I'm still working on that with mine)

- It's black - Reference the "evil" reason above :)

- Very comfortable on trips- I've done (2) 600+ mile round trips with mine since April.

- Full frame car- I'm a traditionalist!

- T-tops! - It's awesome to cruise the car with the t-tops off!

- Regular replacement parts are cheap- blower motors, starters, etc...

- Technology. Turbo + intercooler + fuel injection + distributorless ignition + computer control + 4 speed OD transmission. The competition is only now starting to catch up

Hates:

- T-tops! - Leaky, rattling things that they are.

- Electrical gremlins, It will turn you into an electrical expert in no time!

- It's black! It's dusty 3 minutes after you wash & wax it.

- Panel fit, gaps are impossible to get right (as has been mentioned already).

- The unique parts are expensive & somewhat hard to find (But still not as expensive as Mopar resto parts, though).

- Leaks oil like crazy

- Powermaster brakes

All in all, I absolutely adore my GN and It is BY FAR the funnest and fastest car that I have ever owned!

John

I fixed the handling, the seats and the Powermaster and have manual windows, so I hate...

The Odometer, which doesn't work all the time
The Steering column, that is offset from the center of the seat
The Seatbelts and seat belt holder, that doesn't
