What to do with Alky System during seasonal storage?

Is there a recommendation for how to prep the alky system for seasonal storage (it's almost winter here in Buffalo
Purge system? Fill with another liquid? Leave it be?
With my old SMC/hybrid I used to suck in some marvel mystery oil for the winter since that pump wasn't meant for methanol. Lasted many years like that. It's just a hassle if not required.

Drain the alky and run water through it. This way zero issue.

What about freezing? I'd have to make sure it was all dry then to pevent freeze damage to components.

If the car is stored where freezing can be an issue, mix it 50/50. The idea is to cut down its strength.

Actually 20-30% alcohol will bring it down to like -20 DF

I've had my car sit for months with methanol in the tank and no adverse effects to the pump. I answered the question as to a hypothetical if it would be better.. sure. Does it absolutely need to be done, no.

I'd recommend windshield washer fluid like those used in winter.. but afraid of the dye's found in them. Hence the suggestion for mixing the methanol with water.

Razor... I live in a cold climate but still drive my T-Type whenever the roads are dry, even if it's freezing out. Will I have any issues with just leaving the methanol in my car? The most the car would "sit" would be 3-4 weeks at a time. Thanks, Paul

Razor What About Mine?

Raze mines been sitting up for about 8 months i bought your system & installed it in Jan . ran the car until march; with other issues. March i drained the tank dry but not the pump itself , i disconnected the lines to the uppipe but not below the tank to the pump. Now i ididnt run water through it, the tank is bone dry but i dont know about the lower lines going to pump, will i have seal issues, i figure since it was sitting on the shelf new then it would be the same principal but now that meths been ran through the system i came to my senses. have i messed up is it too late to run water through it or let it be, should i change anything to be safe or is everything wel?l im gonna be down probably till early Dec. late Nov.??

If your concerned, put some water in the tank and run the system by pressing the test button.

I doubt you'll have any issue.

glad to hear that. i let mine sit for 4 months then i was like crap maybe i should run water threw it so it doesnt eat any of the seals. i guess i will be fine as well

If it gets that cold and your worried about the pump freezing why don't you just drain the tank, run some water through the system, un-plug the electrical conection at the pump and disconect the lines at the pump and remove the two nuts and take the pump in the house? That way the pump is flushed with water so meth left in there won't eat at the seals. that seems like a 15min job and no worry!

Well It kinda makes sense now Razor.. if your Meth is in the pump & hoses all the time it would be the SAME principal as if you have the car up and running ALL the time with meth in it, so the seals doesnt now if your cars down or running duuhhhh what was i thinking. (I could see the freezing temp conscerns though) No problem here in South GA. I couldve left the tank & lines full & it would ve been as if im just parked in a parking lot.
