What's the best stock location intercooler?

Thanks everybody for their input & ideas. With everybody's help I have reached a decision. Going to go with a PT&E SLIC from an approved supporting TB.COM supplier, probably PT&E, but not sure yet. It's not only about keeping American money in America, it's about keeping TB.COM continuing and supporting a supplier who supports our hobby. I really don't want to see us lose any more manufacturers and suppliers of and / or to our hobby. God Bless all & thanks again.

Not sure yet, and not even sure if I plan on selling it, and I appreciate the interest, but it will be offered to the SouthWestern Section first to avoid and shipping hassles quality disagreements, and if that does not work, will probably offer it on the general forum. Sorry, I detest packaging and / or trips to the post office. Appreciate the interest though.
 
No problem, same thing I'm doing with my FMIC, tried to find a local buyer first to avoid shipping it.

Thanks for the interest though. Good luck with the FMIC. Also, FWIW, Thunderfab changed their manufacturing process midstream and went from bar to plate, or vice-versa, and supposedly the advantages of the bar, the first ones, I believe outweigh the advantages of the later-made plate ones. Just food for thought. I had no issues with mine though.
 
hmmm.. so working on them as a JOB from 1988/9 to 2001/2 I didn't know anything about them ?? along with owning a LOT of them and RACING them... we have had a few :p oh and NO I didn't have to work on my own that much .. stayed away from ****boxes :cool:

Don't be a grouch Grumpy. I never said you don't know anything about these cars - you said you have done three water pumps...so then you know what I'm talking about - FM makes everything easier - even oil filter access :)

Intercoolers are just like women, some are front mounts and some are, well, never mind, I forgot what I was going to say.
 
I ran an old PTE and made a full baffel that fit around the front SB. Ran an easy low 11 with an antique turbo and build-up. Grumpy knows the TR's so don't mess with him. My .02$ only. Another old Goat. Gene

hmmm thinkin here.. so a SLIC is a long legged beautiful woman.. has all the "stock" stuff.. YOU KNOW WHAT i mean !! A front mount woman would be fat (thick cores) with the fake ballons (ya . the "Look" of the front mount) ..

ok brain is overloading.. have to get outta here :biggrin:

No, no, no. Just think about it - the SLIC has the short legs, the FMIC has the long sleek legs that wrap around ya and does not come between you and the engine! :)
 
I know several people with Precison and V4s. They work very well. I also will comment on fit. Every one had to be tweaked to fit. The mounts and/or engines are slightly different and you might need to add a washer or elongate a hole to get a better fit.
 
WELL!! Grumpy I hate SLIC's cause I always have to take the damn things out of there to work on the engine. You wouldn't believe the jabs I get from all my buddies when they come around and I'm standing between the engine and radiator on the sway bar wrenching away. Hell Grump my sway bar is polished from the 100's of hours Iv'e spent threw the years standing on the damn thing. Ok guys take it easy it's hard for me to even reach anything in the engine compartment only being 5' 2" but I sure can get in and out from under them easy. All BS aside you can't beat PTE's. Iv'e installed 5 of them and every one went right in NO problem with anything. Fit,finish and performance are all excellent. Go for it Gary you'll LIKE it.
 
Vote here for PTE as well on the SLIC.
I have to agree on the FMIC with ease of belt changes, h20 pumps, etc. Plus its out of the hot engine bay.

Hes just about has a lynch mob after him. Mickie the Fish is gonna pay him a visit after all the guys he screwed.
His products are nice though...if you were the few that got em:mad:
