That sounds way to pricy compared to what I spent. Will have to check to be sure. I know they used a 4" SBC blank to make them.

I had them quote a specific size...(.040) and after the response of $970....it's got hypers in it now...lol

Same thing happened to me. Ended up going with hypers... leaned it for less than one second, cracked two of them. Had to do a complete rebuild and replace the slugs.

Now I want a forged option without having to wait forever and spend a G.

I just checked my receipt from last year from my engine guy and they were $637 without pins. I'm surprised at your price and wonder if its because they have dealer pricing for engine shops vs non-dealer call-ins.
FWIW - There older custom pistons didn't have there job numbers tracked like today. I sent them a piston that was originally a JE piston but didn't have a job number associated to it for them to duplicate the dish and valve reliefs. Now I have a job number so getting spares or oversize pistons of the same design is easy.

The price increase may be due to the rising price of metals on the market.

What time frame are you looking at the next few weeks, months, years?

Weeks. (which is real life slang for a month or two).

I picked the absolute worst time to do is. Winter would have been much better. They've been nailed with racing season and I'm having to work around their big deep pocket teams.

Steve, do you have a block, crank and rods all ready picked out? I hate the idea of not running the first set, but I don't have a 4.1 block or crank yet.

I have the whole ensemble 291 block, using stock rods and crank, I even have hyper piston but I don't have the heart to use them... I too had a bad experience; had the #1 piston explode when those miserable Walbro F...169 pumps were dying without warning.

Would you be interested in a 291 block and a stock crank?

I sent you a PM with my home number.

I am looking for a block. PM me the details.

Earl,

Still have a line on these? I have a 044 block, turbo crank, 8445 heads, and all the 3.8 fixin's that I'm getting ready to send off to the shop to punch .020 over.

I'm looking for a price for 4.060 pistions for a 6.5 rod and a 3.625 stroke . For my stage motor . That's all I have left to have Dutwhiller put it together

Diamond 3.820s were 750.00

Going with a 9 to 1 CR

That is a special combination which requires a custom piston, the smart thing to do have Kenny order your pistons and rings, since he is the one responsible for assembling it.

Whoever is looking for a 291 4.1 I should have one at the GS Nationals in Bowling Green. I live in B/G a couple of miles from the hotels on Scotsville road. The block is bored .020 over , line bored, stock crank, resized stock rods, hyper pistons, complete record of build. Currently asm as a short block on engine stand in my garage . Flywheel, mainstuds , headstuds , oil pan . I ran this engine with a 60 turbo and 2 12/218 roller cam as hotaircar 11.36 @ 118 and 7.20 1/8 time. also have parts that I will not haul to the track. C

I do. If you want to save a little money, don't bore it. Just get the shop to hone the worst cylinder clean. If it only take a few thou to clean it up, can make you a set for that and leave more meat on the bores.

That's not enough info yet. You'll also need to know your block height and where you want the crown to land relative to the deck.

Piston blanks have been going up every other month. pistons pins and rings are a little over $700 for a 3.8 right now. The 4.1 is around $850. One thing about custom sizes is while any piston size can be made there is not always rings in every size so if you decide to make a special piston make sure you can get rings before you have them cut. This is the main reason the 4.1 is 4" bore cause there is good rings available
