maywheather is one of the most the most arrogant, s$#t talking a$$holes of all time. a true champion would not turn down a fight for less money, they want to prove they are the best by beating the best. personally. i thinks he knows he would get his a$$ handed to him if he fought paquio.

on the topic of no white signicant boxers... has he heard of the klitchsco brothers???? what an a$$.

just my opinion.

Mayweather's mouth is annoying, but he does it to sell fights. We are this board arguing about him because of his big mouth.

I think Pacquiaou can will beat him if they fight.

I cant stand the Klitchkos, but there are a few bad azz white fighters. Joe Calzaghe, Kelly Pavlik, and Arthur Abraham are probably some of the best right now.

I would like to see how Mayweather would stand up to a real Muay Thai fighter! They know how to protect the head and they have plenty of speed.
One or two kicks from one of them and Mayweather would crumble!!

+100 those little guys are as hard as a coffin nail!!!! I went to a Muay Thai camp once and watched a 130lb man (who was an ex thai champ) invite a 200+ pound man to hang from his neck in a muay thai clinch. He walked around the ring like nothing with his arms straight out to his side and a guy hanging on his neck. Those dudes are no joke Floyd would get straight killed against a real Muay Thai fighter. Sounds like Mayweather is just mad that professional boxing has taken the number 2 spot behind the MMA events. That's all you hear on TV and radio....MMA this and that. It's been awhile since I've heard anything about a professional boxing event. I'd be a little salty too if my claim to fame was losing ground to something new I guess.

Yea, but it was Mayweather who said what he said so we have to use him.

A good offensive boxer may have even more of a chance in the MMA bout.

It would be interesting because GSP would know he's dead meat standing up and the boxer would know GSP can't afford to do much except go for the takedown.

Does the boxer immediately attack hoping to catch GSP off guard, but leaving himself open for the takedown if he misses?

Does GSP immediately go for the takedown hoping his speed gets him there before the boxer can counter, and hoping the boxer's whole game plan didn't anticipate that very strategy.

Odds are GSP gets the takedown and ends the match but if he messes it up he would be toast.

Good thoughts Blob.
The boxer would have no choice but to be weary of the ground game. Be going to the ground is really dangerous for the MMA guy for one reason. He absolutely has to drop his hands to try get the take down. Boxers are far more efficient in their power shots. Going for the takedown will be absolutely dangerous.
And at the same time, we not mentioning the fact the the boxers will be training on knees and kicks also. They won't be good at it, but the conditioning is already there and its just one more weapon for them.

This is true to a point. Also the small gloves play a large roll in the knockouts. But look at Liddell vs. Rampage II, and Rampage vs. Silva III. I dont think anyone was worrying about a takedown or kicks. Those were straight boxing matches, and both ended in Highlight real knockouts. Study the knockouts closely, and you will see where there chins are, and where their hands are, and they are definitely not in the right places, like a boxer would have them.

Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of highlight reel knockouts in boxing too. Just not as much one punch knockouts like MMA, especially amoungst the elite fighters.

Brock has a wrestling background, but have you seen him use any wrestling in any of his fights?

I hope your kidding with this last statement. It is proven that wrestling is an excellent base for MMA fighters. Do you know how many streetfights are won using wrestling? Those above matches were MMA fights, not boxing matches, and I know what you were trying to say with that, but frankly, your wrong.

Kimbo Slice's real name is Kevin Ferguson and he's going to give pro boxing a try this summer.

John

That should tell you something.... Kimbo got KTFO in MMA so he wants to box;)

The whole topic of this debate is stupid... No one has hardly touched on the racial aspect of what he said... Who does he think invented boxing and has promoted it to the level it is now... Hint, it want Don King:rolleyes:

He said, you can't put me in a cage like an animal:eek:  Sounds like a cop out to me... If he wants to fight, fight... Pride had a regular ring:biggrin:

The only thing that separates boxers from MMA fighters is that they only have to concentrate on the opponents punches... In MMA you not only worry about punches but also kicks, knees, take downs, flying head busters etc....

His argument is weak and shows how much of a puss he is IMO. If he isn't willing to step into their world and do his thing he should STFU:biggrin:

He said no whites dominate boxing. As far as I know that is 100% correct.

As for the "invented their own sport" comment... he's trying to sell tickets. I actually think its kind of funny, but then again I'm not all tightly wound looking for racism in every comment or situation.

Did he say he could beat an MMA guy at their sport? Did he say any boxer could?

He was talking smack... If you can't see that maybe you need to watch it again:rolleyes:

I really hope ur joking cause if not maybe you need to go back and watch the video again.

No whites dominate boxing? Really? So I guess Vitali Klitschko who is WHITE is a nobody fighter with a 92% knockout percentage and the current WBC heavy weight champion of the world. But heavy weight champion means nothing in boxing... And I guess his brother Wladimir Klitschko is worthless as well currently holding the IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine world championships.... So as far as what you know to be 100% correct is 100% wrong!

Instead of being brainwashed by a RACIST you watched in an interview maybe you should do a little research next time before you support such ignorant comments.

Do think Mayweather has a PHD in sports medicine like Vitali does? I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and say "Unlikely"....

The heavyweight division has gone down the toilet!!!! How many white fighters have been Champ since Ali???? Can you name ONE???? Excluding the present Champ/Chump!

One of the big reasons that MMA has become so popular is the fact that their arent any good heavyweights around anymore!!!

Mayweather is trash talking, nothing more.....nothing less!

Anyone remember the fight between Ali and the Japanese wrestler, Inoki??

"While not hurt badly, the boxer who stings like a bee got stung time and again by Inoki's kicks and his doctor said it would take Ali several weeks to recover completely."

Boxer vs. Wrestler Muhammad Ali

I understand that a lot of MMA fighter were elite wrestlers, and I understand that most street fights end up on the ground. Wrestling is really important in fighting. I wasnt trying to say it wasnt. Im just saying that Brock has won most of his matches "without" wrestling. The two fights that I listed were MMA fights, but if you watch them closely they "mostly" boxed.

Georges St. Pierre vs boy mayweather

Georges St. Pierre would whip mayweather like a slave. That boy would run like a monkey out of the cage.

I still agree that Mayweather has an advantage standing, but there is a 0% chance Pierre would stay standing against him, even GSP knows thats a bad idea. So knowing GSP wants you on the mat, and Mayweather has never training to defend that, (he ducks weaves and stabs...but isn't thinkin about legs).......he's as good as down 10 secs in when GSP gets an ankle out of the swing of one of those deadly fists then MW is staring at union workers pride that is the ceiling of the auditorium....until he get mounted and his eyes swell shut. GSP 1 round less than 2 mins in if he gets him down, remember boxers are not trained to fight down on the mat, much less on their backs after having their thighs/knees kicked like your neighbors cat on your car. And I am not a GSP fan..... I'd rather see A. Silva vs Mayweather anyday, but the ONLY chance MW has is in boxing, in MMA he's dead, in a street fight he's dead. He is not prepared to defend his whole body or use whole body for striking.
Its like saying a long distance golf driving champ will wear the green jacket...there way more to winning than a long drive.

The heavyweight division is a complete and utter joke... which is why nobody pays any attention to it. I didn't know they still bothered to crown a heavyweight champion.

And watching the video yet again I still don't see the racism you are getting so riled up about. He says white people invented MMA because they can't dominate boxing. I personally think they invented MMA to make money but the fact is that they can't dominate boxing.

And remember, the context of the whole press conference is to sell tickets to his fight... which is in direct competition with a UFC card. So what do you expect him to say, the UFC is great so watch that instead?

No, it's not.

Mayweather never said he could win an MMA fight. He knows he probably can't. He is trying to make the case that MMA is like dumbed down boxing or something. And he is only doing that because he is trying to sell tickets to his fight.

And, quite frankly, until MMA evolves beyond where a man can be a champion after five fights he has somewhat of a point. As pathetic as the heavyweight division is in boxing nobody on the planet can get good enough to be champion after fighting five times. (That point was made way back on page one, but bore repeating).

He might not have said it but pick up bro... He was basically saying big white boys can't compete with the likes of him so they invented a sport so they wouldn't have too:rolleyes: I bet he wouldn't talk that chit to Rampage:biggrin: Knowing that Rampage will drive over his butt if you strike him wrong:biggrin:

Dude, Brock is a serious athlete that has a great base for MMA in his wrestling. He has been training his standup and his ground game is pinning you down and smashing your face, thats MMA sometimes. Mayweather is just a biggot that is pissed that MMA is taking away from his money and that is his only goal, to make a huge payday....ever wonder why he went and did his little bull**** pro wrestling stint?

Name one other sport where a person can be champion after doing it five times... regardless of how much training they did.

And "pinning you down and smashing your face" requires a serious set of skills?

I think that was exactly Mayweather's point.

obviously you have never wrestled or grappled before so you should probably not talk anymore  :o I want to see you or anyone hang with 140 pound NCAA DIV1 wrestler, I use a 140 pounder as an example because they are light and will keep you down all day and smash someones face in, imagine what a HW would do to someone. That's the point of MMA, wrestling is a sort of martial art (requires massive amounts of discipline and drive) and Brock uses it well. For example, Lyoto Machida was 11 or 12 and 0 and is LHW champ and before that was a karate master, he uses his karate to destroy people while he evades every attack, along the way he learned BJJ and muay thai to become a more well rounded mixed martial artist but he relies heavily on his karate skill. Mayweather is an idiot who is bitter his sport has been fading and his true nature(being a bigot) came out.

Whether or not I have wrestled or grappled is irrelevant to the fact that the UFC has a champion who has had only FIVE MMA fights.

Champion after five fights... that's mighty tough to explain for those extolling the great skills MMA requires.

Mayweather is not bitter. He is way richer than all the MMA fighters combined. He was trying to sell tickets.

Would you rather try to hang with a 140 lb wrestler or stand in against a 140 lb boxer? At least with the wrestler you could tap before he killed you.
