Hey whatever floats ur boat Mark? I have never kept a car longer then a couple of yrs. I like it.

You can find a black regal anywhere, anytime. Be Different.

The only "crazy" thing you could do is listen to other people instead of doing what you want. Obviously you're at the wrong forum to have someone tell you "sure, get rid of that Buick crap!", hardly anyone here will tell you to do it, but if that's what you want then you should do it.

Good point! Changing car bug gets to me every once in a while. The pics of this car do not do it justice and it helps that I personally know the previous two owners of it.

A while back was toying with the idea of getting an early Nova to do a turbo Buick conversion but it needed too much work. This whole thing just fell in my lap this week.

Not being allowed into shows and cruises around here in CT is sort of getting to me again and I always wanted a 55.

OK Buick guys, what do you think my GN is actually worth OR should I say, what do you think I could get for it???

Here is a link to this site I have for my Buick, BOOSTED - 1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL
hasn't been updated in a while but have recently added a polished stretch location intercooler, stainless rad pipes and of course more chrome stuff.

BTW, the Weld wheel setup is sold and would not be going with the car.

Just my opinion here.....

One night, shortly after this purchase, you will notice your hands stating to shake uncontrollably. Your mouth will become dry and piercing headaches will follow. The next thing you know, you will find yourself huddled in the corner of a dark gas station bathroom with a bruised bow-tie tatoo on the back of your neck....crying. You will exit the gas staion bathroom and people will begin to hurl spoiled potataoes at you. You will try to run and escape the pelting, but at every corner you turn there will be a TR....waiting as if to say "what have you done!", "Some teenager has bought me! I have a blow off valve!, nitrous!, curb feelers!, fuzzy dice!, and Tornado fuel mileage device!"

I can't handle that kind of pressure man. I would stick with the regal. Besides, I like trapping less than 18 seconds in the 1/4.

again....just my opinion.

nah.... not everyone :p I have had Shelby Mustangs, 427 Cobra's, 396/427 65/66 Vette's and a mess of other "hot rods" along with prob 50 Buicks and TTAs .. keep your cars for over 20 years and see if ya might want a change some day

No I wouldn't be crazy to get it or no don't do it??

Here are a few more pics. This car was a frame off, has a stroker 383 and yes, I would change the wheels and get rid of the cheesy floor mats.

Would also pull the motor to paint it and get rid of the valve covers and air cleaner. Would seriously think about doing a Turbo 6 conversion if someone out there has already done one.

No, don't do it;) But I agree with above, do what ever makes you happy.... Life is too short not to be!

Mark,

Get the '55 - you don't drive the GN enough anyway:D

Do whatever YOU want - I wish I had the $$ for your GN:mad:

Aren't you the guy that sold a blown 66 Chevelle many moons ago? Dont do it. You'll regret it. I wouldn't have a problem passing on that 55. One of my rules of life is"never drive a car older than you are". I was spawned in '60. I like building them more than driving them. I'd buy a clapped out POS before I bought one in that shape. To much de-personal-izing needs to be done to that car IMO. I would feel like it was a waste of money if I had to change a lot of stuff that wasn't to my liking. As far a cruising, maybe you are going to the wrong events.

55's are for 65 - 75 year olds, reliving their youth.

When I was a kid, my dad bought a '57 Hardtop that was low mile and arrow straight that we were going to restore together and he was going to show me how fast they were with a solid cam and dual 4's.

Then we stumbled upon some Big Block musclecars for dirt cheap, he realized his '57 wasn't really all that fast (All the other cars of the era were just very slow) and he sold the '57 and never looked back.

In 30+ years at 30+ cars, he has never mentioned wanting to buy one again.

Go with the tri 5

That is one of the nicest five fives I've seen in a long time I'd ditch the wheels but hey the rest of the car is immaculate. You hardly ever see em with some of the chrome trim that's still hangin on that beauty. The restoration looks impeccable. Combining a shoebox with a brick would be great. ;) I'd definately get rid of the sbc and transplant a GN drivetrain do the ESP twin turbo job that would make one Fantastic 55,the firewall is already smoothed out and then you do a good plumbing job on the pipes feeding your twin turbo'd torque monster, hide the custom IC's for each turbo in the fenderwells no clutter nothin but BUICK HORSEPOWER. 30k for that 55 is a steal! Once you transplant the Heart/LC2 The Life Blood of your 55 will be nothin but BUICK POWER. You'll have the Best of Both Worlds, you will be ridin in Class.

Sort of what I was thinking. I have built cars from scratch before and don't ever plan on doing that again. Dealing with body shops has always been a thorn in my side.

Wouldn't do the twin turbo deal though, too rich for my blood.

Funny thing is, my first friend who owned this for a little while is interested in getting a GN. He is a mutual friend of the current owner. Told the current owner to tell him to just give him 29K and I will take the 55 and he can have my GN.:D Would be funny if that worked out.

tri five

BuickGN you know you can't restore a 55 to that QUALITY for the 29K you maybe able to get that whip for. You know it would cost double that to bring a car to that LEVEL. ;) It's a screamin deal that you shouldn't let pass you by. I know you love cars but in reality what an investment. Later if it was just the car bug you could sell it and get 2 Buicks. Do the Barrett Jackson thing they are in fact getting more money for the more modernized/customized tri fives the the strictly original cars. I wouldn't be surprised if the right people bidding you'd be lookin at over 50k. That knock your socks off blue catches your eye!
