Ok guys I will give it to you straight. With the new Aeromotive, Destchworks, and Jay racing pumps out there I see lots of people looking at them. They are all made in China, 2 of them come from the same factory. I was sent an email by them yesterday and asked if I wanted to buy some. We can offer them at a good price to Buick owners, somewhere around the current Walbro pricing and offer a 1 year exchange waranty as well. So my question to the Buick Community is simply this, will you buy them if we get them? If not, why not? I am going to let you guys decide.
Mike
PS we will also be offering the new made is USA Walbro unit which will be better for sure when it becomes available.

Are these ...

the single pumps you are talking about Mike? Not the double pumpers and inline 800HP + pumps, right?
I would think, if I needed a single pump I would be looking for the best considering the damage caused by a lost pump. (I have both dbl pumper and the aero.) What would be their rating?

Denso, a little more $, but it sill is working.

thats good Rodger but no on has seen one of these new pumps fail yet to my knowledge (but they are new) plus the denso is smaller and still made offshore

I try not to buy anything for my car made in China, unless i absolutely cant avoid it.

The strong anti chinese stance on this board was the reason I passed on these over a year ago, seems like times have changed some? If people are going to complain about where they are made I really don't want to get involved but they need to bear that in mind when they look at other options. The only pump I know of made here is the Walbro, all the others we have mentioned are made in china
Mike

Calculate the ROI on offering them. What percentage of the Chinese pumps do you think will be returned? At what point would it cost more for you to support them versus not selling them at all. If I bought another GN/T or needed a pump I'll only buy Weldon for racing and Walbro for a daily driver.

I'll either be holding out for the new Walbro or going to an inline pump. I've gotten good service from the single Walbro in the past.

Mike, any word as to when this new Walbro unit might be available?

Why not sell both? Offering a variety to your customers can only benefit both buyer and seller.

I would probably buy the Walbro but it because I have had good results with them before. I don't have an issue with where the stuff gets made. If I needed a pump and I could get the Chinese pump before the Walbro and the price was fairly the same...Chinese it is.

variety

I agree with 87GTA-Turbo. just offer both. i have so many customers at my shop that just dont care about the part or where it is made. They only care about the price. Everybody is different, so it is good to offer a variety.
Now as far as my own car, i would want to buy a Walbro for the street and Weldon for street/strip. I prefer to buy things made in America IF it is better and reasonably priced.

I am glad to hear that just about everyone who cared to reply has preferred the US made Walbro solution. With all the Walbro bashing going on I just was not sure what people here wanted. In the end they want a good product and someone to stand behind it. Stay tuned we will have a solution soon
Mike

To be honest I would be fine with the aeromotive or jay racing pump and would buy them from you.
If walbro comes out with something better than the 255 I would probably choose that over the other brands and it has a lot to do with the walbro rep that came on this board and admitted there were faults in walbros warranty and seemed to want to make it right.
I have headers from a vendor that are supposedly not American and they have been 10x better than the American made ATRs I had for years. jmho.

this is what they posted on LS1tech.com:
LS1TECH - View Single Post - New Aeromotive 340 in tank pump

Quoted by Aeromotive inc.
Hey guys. Just wanted to clear the air here. Our 340 fuel pumps, like all of these style pumps, are manufactured off shore. The difference is ours are manufactured to our specifications using our material recommendations and tolerences to achieve the desired flow at pressure. . . . . .

Mike,
The italic section above is NOT your quote, but did not want to lose the history. ;)
Just wanted to piint out my appreciation for the way Aeromotive inc. tip-toed around the section in bold.

Material recommendations are acceptable (I guess), but material specifications are preferred.
Based on the “material recommendations” the supplier/manufacturer has the ability to deviate, to reduce cost.
Therefore, Aeromotive Inc. cannot guarantee the pump to an engineering specification, much less the quality. LOL :D

For the record:
I am not suggesting China stuff is junk as a general rule.
It just takes work (lots of it), to ensure integrity and quality.
