I'm buying tomorrow so weigh in now, please.:D
Which one is best for my combo?
Which one will get me down the 1320 quicker?

Patrick has already explained:
- The 6262 will spool faster and is rated at 680HP
- The 6265 is rated for 700HP
- Both are good enough to get me well into the 10's if I decide to go that way.

I don't want to blow the tires off every time I go WOT, so I'm thinking the faster spool isn't necessary a benefit....both will spool faster than my old TA60/61 (whatever it is).

My happy place for this daily driver of mine is mid 11's at 18-19psi.

It'll be one or the other (6262 or 6265) billet DBB turbo with 4" inlet, 2.5" outlet, S ported shroud, 0.63 A/R turbine housing and HD actuator.

I just had the 6262 DBB ceramic installed but no tests yet. I pick the car up Friday from Gbodyparts. I dont think you will notice the difference in the hp difference between the two. I chose it becuase it is a bigger turbo and I wanted the quicker spool to compensate for the size.

You will run out of injector before you run out of turbo on the 6265.
You have enough stall for the 6262 JB, why not try that and save some money?

I'm going DBB either way (for reliability), so they're both the same price.

A couple of the local guys are running the 6265 with very similar combo's to mine. First guys combo is a little stonger and has gone high 10's on a conservative tune, and the other guys is a little more mild (he's running a milder non-roller cam but has a better FMIC).
Both are spooling at idle....2nd guy's 6265 spools off the starter...:)

I dunno...I figure the faster spool-up from the 6262 might be more of a detriment than a benefit if all it does is make my tires blow off as soon as I turn up the volume.

I'll pick Patricks brain some more when I call him today to place my order.

Any other opinions?

I bought the 6265 for my junk for the same reason.
I wanted a little lag and more top end.

Top end...that's a good point too.
In my mid 11 passes with my TA61, my mph was only 115-116.

In street duty...I tend to loose ground at the top to they guys who end up beating me.

The 65 turbine wheel, will keep going and going.
If only my motor would...

Whether you go with the 62 or the 65 you'll still have a fast spool from it being a DBB.

Fully understand.
I commented on that in my opening note.
Both will spool faste rthan what I already have.

I just don't think the faster spool of the 6262 will do me much good (if I want to blow tires off...I can still with a 6265....or I'll just get in my 68 Camaro and let that ZZ502 inhale a bit) and would prefer a little lag along with the better top end the 6265 brings to the party.

sounds like your sold. are you going billet wheel? you should snap some pics when you get it.

it'll be interesting to compare the before and after times....hurry up, bolt it on and get to the track:cool:

It's on order (thanks Patrick)!

.63 A/R
H/D actuator
...and one copper exhaust flange gasket:biggrin:

I should be back up by Thanksgiving.

Cool! I changed my mind after seeing you have ported heads w/cam. I think you made the right choice, Let us know how it works. My 6262 pulls hard @22lbs w/ stock heads and cam.

BTW.
I think you should have also ordered another set of tires with the turbo:D

x2. I've got a 6265 JB and it spools just fine for me.

I had to go to 80's with mine and also a PTC NL as it was running over the LU convertor. Dynoed 588 RWHP/570 torque on Mustang dyno on 24#'s of boost and a street tune. Went 10.94 @123 first trip to the track with new injectors, new convertor and a wish and a prayer tune.

Lady named Jamie has a hot air car that weighs 3730#'s with driver and runs mid 10's with the billet 6265.

Congratulations on your new turbo .... I love my 6265... get it back on the road and get us some more kills.
