Anybody else hate to be called "BUD?"

Have to be thick skinned and not take things too presonal. I am the youngest guy at my job, and have to deal with the public at times. There are women there who are my mothers age and older so I even get pinched cheeks at least twice a year. I get called:

Junior, youngter, kid, the rookie, the pup, lil man, ding-a-ling, you little muther******, boy, son, bud, pal, homie, playboy, playa, dude, aye-my-man, boss, aye-yo-dawg, fam, fammo, "G", I feel no need to continue. Mind you I work all aroud Chicago.

Now what I do not like is being called by initials...J.J That reminds me of the guy from Good Times who is deemed a clown. I do issue a "please don't call me that" warning for that one.

I call people bud all the time. Over the years it replaced dude in my vocabulary.

I call people "chief" but it's only when I want to get their attention.....like when they're sitting in the staging lanes looking at their handheld device instead of pulling forward.

I kid you not, when I worked at the talent agency in Hollywood, there was a guy who actually changed his legal name to Chief....that's all. No last name just Chief. That was weird.

It might just be me but that drives me nuts! I call my son and my dog "BUD." Not my friends or people I am on an equal level to. When someone calls me bud, it make me feel like they think they are superior to me when in all actuality, they arent.

Might sound like a dumb post but just wondering if I'm the only one that notices that?!!!:biggrin:

When you age and get older, that stuff is no biggie. I'll respond to almost anything. I agree with the ones who say to work to develop thick skin. Life is WAY to short to get worked up over the small stuff.

I was talking to a customer on the phone & called him bud. Trying not to after reading this LOL, Just habit. Believe me if I don't call you Bud the names that follow will not be the ones you prefer :biggrin:
