they are only words.......

I worked at a place where I was one of two white people.
Not speaking their language, I would frequently hear all kinda of terminolgy
refering to my race, again, its only words, they cannot hurt you unless you allow them to, I never even acknowledged their banter, I spoke to them by their names.
my point, words cannot hurt you unless you let them. its your choice!

i donno about Bud but Dude gets me a little twisted. especially when the little azzholes i deal with on an every day basis call me dude

I'm on the same page with the "Bud" thing...it's almost condescending like "you should be glad I even talk to you, moron" sort of expression. We have a local car dealer that I've purchased several cars from over the years that always calls me "bud" all the time...if you don't know my name, just say hello and move on!

Being ex-military I definitely see your point, but I take all that stuff in context...how the person means it matters more than how I take it personally. When people talk like that, I just assume they're not very skilled at communicating, not that they're being disrespectful.

I call older guys with whom I'm not familiar "sir" and even then, they get offended sometimes with the whole "I ain't old enough to call sir" bit. Can't please everyone.

I'm in my late twenties and when older guys call me "son" or "kid" it irks me a little, but I remember, they most likely mean it in a good way. I've found that when old-timers don't a young fella, they say "punk."

But being called "chief" on the other hand? That just makes we wanna punch a guy. ;)

I got a FULL Turbo Tweak chip! I got a Full racing driveshaft! I got a FULL wing bolted to my trunk!

CUSTOM! I hate when I see a car add and they have custom everything. I don't know what people think custom means, but to me it means, "when it breaks, I can't replace it."

How about "Stop Whining"??? Jeeez, Yeah every single person on this board is sick of some word or another but you don't see them posting about it on a muscle car forum..

I'm sure guy's don't like to be called dickhead or putz or jerkoff or more famous words but you don't see them running to forums like this to cry and to whine about it... Get your nuts out of your wifes purse and carry on with life like a real man...........

J/K Bud!! .... LMAO

Scot W.

Hell call me anythig but N*gg*r and ill be cool:mad::mad: its a bad word and I hate to use that word.

you can call me never late for supper... lol

I call people "Bud" all the time. I use as short for buddy... I mean no disrespect with it...

Bro, Slick, bud, dude, man, dawg......I'll answer to all and not lose a moments thought.

Why should you be getting bent over stuff like that.......Life is too short!!!

Unless your manpon is fully soaked......

i could chip in with a couple of the other guys to hire a forklift to help remove that bolder on your shoulder
Let me continue by offering my sincerest apologies to you guys as i am guilty of using Dude on a regular basis and Bro once in a while. I had no idea that i am/was on here with a bunch of delicate thin skinned tuff guys.
I hope that you much more mature Misters and Sirs accept my apologies

.
I dont know about you guys but it seems like everyone likes to call people "BUD" on here!!!

It might just be me but that drives me nuts! I call my son and my dog "BUD." Not my friends or people I am on an equal level to. When someone calls me bud, it make me feel like they think they are superior to me when in all actuality, they arent.

Might sound like a dumb post but just wondering if I'm the only one that notices that?!!!

Thanks for reading my post BUD!

You forgot "cuz".

I call people "chief" but it's only when I want to get their attention.....like when they're sitting in the staging lanes looking at their handheld device instead of pulling forward.

wow, i just read the title and i was like  i hate that ****
