I hate it when you call someone and you get their answering message "Leave a message and I'll call you back." And you still wait for a call back for days, weeks..... What this leads me to believe that the person is lying to you and does not call people back. Then I say to myself, "Why even have a message, just let the phone ring"

How hard is it to pick up the phone and return a call???????       I could understand if something happened to them, such as a broken hand or fingers (which is understandable for not returning calls   )

Does happen to you also, or is it just me?

It happens to me sometimes.

My phone is screwed up and doesn't tell me that I have a new message. Sometimes I go a few days without checking them just because I don't think about it.

Either way, I just checked them Billy to make sure you didn't call:D

Maybe they just don't like you Billy. :)

Maybe they should say, "Leave a message and I might call you back." ;)

My answering machine says, "Hey, leave me a message and ill call you back.....................maybe.."beep that last part is not to get peoples hopes up:p

I am one "of those"... I don't do it on purpose, its just I might get 20 messages in one afternoon, and I don't listen to all of them. I figure if it is important they willl call back:biggrin: I do my best to call back but sometimes just to much going on....

My phone message is along those lines..

Hello this is Bryan, leave me a message and I'LL TRY and call you back...

I get too many phone calls as it is and im usually busy, if im at work and someone calls im usually working on something loud.

So they leave a message and i will dismiss it, forget about it for a few days and if it was important, people know to call me when i am not at work.

Yeah, im one of those people, its not that i intentionally dont try and call them back, its the fact that they leave me a message and take it as a insult that i dont call them back.
Like shane said, if its important, they will call back later.

mine is plain and simple. Hey its brent leave a message!

It's called "Call Screening".

They see it's you calling and dont answer.

It's tough to accept, better get help.

It's not you. Personally and professionally I make it a point to return every call. It's not easy, and sometimes I'll call someone back just to tell them that I don't have time to talk to them but I always return calls. It bugs the ever living **** out of me when someone doesn't call me back. At work, we have voicemail, e-mail and instant messaging. For someone to ignore you through all 3 means of communication is the ultimate insult. I've gotten on planes just to be sitting in someone's office when they arrive in the morning (sometimes in different time zones) after having ignored my attempts to contact them. You can bet they return each and every call after I make such a personal visit.

Actually, right now, one person in Tulsa, Oklahoma is avoiding me. I'm trying to work a personal visit into my schedule.

For the guys that stated that if it's important, they'll call back....then why have an answering machine? Then what do you call it when the person calls backs and gets the machine again and he/she leaves a message with no call back again?  I would rather have a phone ring with no answer than leave a message with no call back.

I make an effort to call a person back, heck they made an effort to call me why not return the call? To me that's an insult for not returning a call. If the person has the time to eat, take a piss/dump, sleep then they the time to pick up the phone to return the call.

I've received messages that don't deserve a return call.

Call display is a bitch. I do it to my Brother all the time. Phone rings, I check out who's calling. See who it is. Then say," piss on him".;)

If I had that type of message on my machine I would just use a qualifying word in there, and say, "maybe" I will call you back.

That way salesmen, pollsters, phone solicitors, and such will know they ain't getting a call back.

"I've received messages that don't deserve a return call."

Truer words have never been spoken. ;)

When I get a sales call, I pick it up and say;
"I am really busy right now, can I call you back in about 10 minutes?"
"Sure"
"Can I get your home phone number to return your call?"
"No you can't"
"Ok, than don’t call me on my home number either, and, remove me from your call list".
(Learned that from a Seinfield episode  )

At work, I say;
"Can I place you on hold for a minute?"
"Sure"
(Place them on hold and keep working) :D
