I brought a Christmas tree home in the truck today. This is the 40th year I have done it in the old truck. My wife never rides in it now that it's noisy and rides like a buckboard, but she went with me and we talked about 354,000 miles of life in that tin can. 44 states and 3 Canadian Provinces hauling a travel trailer, or carrying a Suzuki motocrosser around Florida. Not for the person that likes comfort. That's why it has not been away from home for the last 25 years.

Thats impressive right there... you dont here to much about people keeping the same vehicle that long anymore if it isnt a classic or a collector model. even cooler that the ol truck is used for the holiday work. Stuff like that to me is where those best memorys are formed.

A recent issue of Hot Rod had an editorial by David Frieberger that said these old mini trucks are making a comeback. It's the start of a trend on the west coast he said. I paid $3,100.00 for it new in 74. It now could be worth $6,000.00, according to the article. The only problem is, I have probably put over $20,000.00 in it over the years.

I read that article! I actually have it layed out in my office right at my wifes eye line... so she has a bit of justifacation as to why i now have 6 minitrucks. I knew this was going to come years ago.. it happens every time there is an economy failure. car guys wanna build... and if they cant afford a classic or muscle car body they turn to whats cheap and available. Minitrucks are light, big enough bays for most engines and parts are fairly available. hoard it while you can! the hipsters will be coming!

Check out Larry Larson's twin turbo big block S10 in the latest issue of HRM. Now that is a mini truck on steroids.

I have marriage figured out after 44 1/2 years. Keep your mouth shut unless spoken to, order all parts on the QT and put them in the garage upon arrival. Take them out in a few months and state that they were on the shelf for years. Never forget an anniversary or birthday ( I-Phone calendar alerts ). Never say dinner was not good. I had to eat at Burger King the one time I said it. I knew my wife was for me when she agreed to sleep in the back seat of my 66 390 Fairlane in the infield at the 1969 Daytone 500 in 40 degree weather. Going fishing on our honeymoon and pushing my motocrosser through the pits after a race proved how great she is.

I am building new dumps with street hookups for the truck. Rust does not let them live long when you don't drive it enough to get the pipes real hot. I got about 4 years out of the last set. They bolt to the headers, go back 12" and then turn out with a 3/8" 3 bolt cap and aluminum gaskets. The nuts are welded to the flange, so they go on and off fast. The street pipes come off the side of the dump pipe at a 45 degree angle. I am using Eastwood internal exhaust coating on the inside of the pipes. I used it on my custom built 3" tailpipe. It's really messy to use. It comes with a hose with a 4 hole spray nozzle on the end so you can stick it way up the pipes or headers. It's watery and runs out the end of the pipe you are spraying. The stuff will not come off the garage floor, so some masking paper on the floor is necessary. You have to use thinner to get it off your hands. I hope it extends the life of the new system. Headers are probably the next fabrication job down the road. They are at least 10 years old. This is the old dump I am duplicating.

i guess i should count my luck with the lack of rust we have out here... most of that stuff last pretty long, however plastics or rubber? fo-get-about-it. sun destroys that stuff in a single summer.

Did you try the forgot password link? Sometimes it sends the forgot password email to junk mail. just saying... i have a feeling you checked that but might as well put it out there.

Anyway, anything new with you? Its been a while sense I have seen you on here. Then again, I haven't been on here. This section is starting to dye. From what i have heard, most people are moving over to facebook.
