Well, I think as a security official or even law enforcement officer you can only act on statistics and experience. What else do you have? Gut feeling? Maybe, but law of averages is a much better and more efficient way of ensuring our safety once u get on the plane.
Every time you turn on the TV and hear about someone somewhere getten blown up or blowing something up the odds are it's someone of Middle Eastern decent. Law of averages say if someone is gonna try to blow up a plane it's gonna be someone from the Middle East. That's not ones opinion, that is FACT.
Maybe him and his friends do look suspicious. If they do then they should be detained and a further investigation should be conducted. But lets face it, take a look at the video of the bombers back in 2001 when they were in the airport. They appeared to look normal and apparently were acting normal, therefore they walked right past security without raising any red flags.
Middle Easterns do not like the Westerners and have made that very clear on many occassions. If TSA officials are going to choose someone randam then statistically it should be someone of Middle Eastern decent. If they feel offended by that then they will have to get over it.
I, as most other Americans have no issue with Middle Easterners being detained a little longer then others at the airport if need be. Once ur on the plane, ur on the plane. There is no exit ramp you can get off of when things go bad.
