It appears the weather gods have blessed us for this weekend!:D

After 2 night and one day of much needed wet stuff, we now have a bright, sunshine morning which should be with us through the weekend.

The hard rains will have cleaned the track surface of dust and debris which will make for excellent traction after the Speedworld crew does it usual great prep job. With temps in the high 60's, low 70's, it will set the stage for new best times by many racers.

For those arriving tomorrow from 12 noon until 5 PM for advance parking, remember to take Jomax road from US 60 for entrance. All other times we will enter the gate from Happy Valley road.

The track will open Friday night for time runs if anyone want to participate.

We have not set specific race classes at this point. On Saturday AM, we will take a poll how to set the breakdown of bracket and index classes. As usual, the race class entrance fee will be $20 per class, and ALL monies collected will be paid back to the winners.

Looking forward to a great weekend!:)

nick, i have been keeping an eye on the weather as well. looks good. anyways see you guys friday

well guys, im sitting here at the track and all is well with everyones car. there are only a half a dozen rice burners here. some how i got the internet from someone here at the track. anyways with someone was here to tune my car. its a cool 50 deg. with a tail wind about 2-5mph. anyways see you all tomorrow.

its cool here in brrrrrrrrrrrrr!

course thats from a so cal view point lol
sprinkles last night, but outlook is good for today, saw some quick mustangs run last night, (10's) then the lone buick made a tune up pass, then let it rip, 9.79@139 was nice to see !
hope to see Reggie, Jeff, Nic and others in the 9's today, and wanna see the post whore dial it in and run some good numbers, (come on Brent, let er rip!)
heard knife boy is headed here, (oh gee, what good news:rolleyes: )
will post up some news later,

never seen so many 9 sec cars at once!!

I'll get all the info later, but Jeff Rand went 9.38@144 on 24 lbs
Scott was dressed like Santa !
Reggie West tagged the wall, ruined a perfectly good pairofunderware!
he did go 9.70 something earlier in the day
headed back out for few last runs, see what the track is like.
more later

Thanks for the updates Lee. Wish I could be there. Sorry to hear about Reg's car. Hope it's not too bad. Is that a new best for Jeff?

I was there Sat. when he tagged the wall, he left the line, shook the tires, grabed second and started to spin, at that point the car started to skate accross the track left, then right, than left again into the wall with the bakes locked. L/F fender, header, bumper, grill ect....not too bad but bad enough! We all felt bad. On a good note, the weather was great and so many fast 9sec runs!

Was there Sat also, beautiful weather, great cars & lots of fast times. Saw the wreck also, almost looked like he was going to get it stopped before he hit the wall, but no avail. Was a good job of driving though to keep it from being worse than it ended being.
On a personal note, I was there with my dad helping him with his car. He set a personal best of 12.91 @ 103. It's a '87 GN (he's the original owner) with a stock motor (save for a set valve springs) & turbo, with 50lb inj & all the supporting fuel upgrades, a Percision stock loc intercooler, 3" THDP, RJC pp, & Turbo Tweek chip.
Well can't wait till next year & hope to see more of us out there then.

will, no problem and thanks again.

To everyone else i got a new best time. i couldnt 60 foot at all this year. at 230 i ran the car for the last pass of the day. i didnt give it much time to cool since they where going to close the track. the only adjustment i made was we added 2 deg of timing in the low gear 1/2nd and did a half a turn on the boost. it picked up 3 tenths with just this alone. timing is still low and boost is right at 20psi. saturday night i ran 115mph with the outside temp of 50 deg. but the best 60 foot was a 2.0 since all the street cars where tearing up the track. anyways if this doesnt make since its been a long day. anyways this is what the time slip looked like.

60-1.659
1/8-7.491
mph-91.133
1/4-11.745
mph-115.818

not to shabby for 20 psi and low timing in 80 deg weather on radials:D

what a drive home!!!!!

its 9pm, Jeff and I left at 1pm, can you say traffic?
really sorry about Reggies car, we were looking at the track today, and saw his tracks, starter said he was just out of the groove, and car went right , out on the white line, and it was all over then, Reggie was doing his darnest to save it, but that much horse power was going where it wanted, he was so close to saving it, I thought it was just a scratch until we went to end of the track, Oops! ouch! don't think anyone could of saved that run!
jeff launched a wheels up run today, ( I'm talking 2ft or more!!!) then ran a 9.31@145, w/ a 1.32 60 ft. (same run) at 24lbs!!!!! I saw the data log.
turned launch boost down, and ran a better run, but no time, wheels again in the air, only bout a ft, I'd guess every bit as good as the 1st run,
Scott was doing lisc run, but still ran some 9 sec runs,
Dan ( sorry not sure on last name) was very strong, and consistant!
every run was in the 9's!!! Other Dan also in the 9's (9.79 I think, ) then this am had problems, and loaded up and watched,
was a mustang that ran 8.83, WOW:eek:
was one of the best meets I've attended, Nic was right along in the 9's also,
I have some pics I'll down load tomorrow, sorry Reg, none of your excitement run!
besides, I'm not very good at running the camera,
Brent went 11.81@114 and brother greg was also 11,90, so Dad should be very happy that the boys gave up drugs for drag racing! LOL ,

What a weekend! So many 9 sec. Buicks, great weather, great track officials, and excellent track prep - what could be better.
Brent, it was great to finally meet you and see your car run so well.
Lee, I want to thank you for giving me a plan B on my broken truck. When I disabled the egr it eliminated the misfire.
Reg's mishap really got my attention. I was almost ready to pack it in but Lee slapped me around and forced me back into the car.
I am sure that the Southwest community can come up with the parts needed to get him on the road.
Also thanks to Nick for taking the time to organize this event.
Jeff

I got the car home and started tearing off the the broken parts and its not to bad.I have lived that run over and over in my mind second guessing my self trying to think of anything I could have done differentley.I have come to the conclusion that I did all I do given the circumstances that I had at the time.I am so thankful that no one was in the other lane, that would have been a nightmare.
Lessons Learned
1} I will never line up out of the grove again some one will be directing me at the line.
2} Before the car runs again it will have an XFI traction control device.

It might not have been my best year at this event but I want to thank all you guys who entertained my Grand Son he just had the time of his life hanging out with all of you. See all of you again next year.

REG

Reggie- just glad your ok. Your grandson (Nathan, right?) is a great kid, I'm sure he can't wait to help fix the GN.

Brent, thanks again for watching the cars! Gotta say I'm impressed with how great you have the hot air running.

Dan
Yes its nathan and he is still talking about you and all the other guys.We both were out in the shop last night woking on the car.I think I have created another Biuck Nut.
