Hi

I have just installed a TH200-4R built by CK performance.

Below are the pressure readings.
Pressure on 1:st and 2:nd seem low, but I have no experience.

No Tv / Full TV
P 60/250
R 80/270
N 60/250
4 60/250
3 60/250
2 130/175
1 130/175

Does it look ok? I though pressure should be around 250 on 1:st and 2:nd too. I have emailed CK performance today, but haven't got an answer yet.

Regards

I installed a complete Ck performance master build kit, servo, and recalibration kit and installed my transmission 2 weeks ago. My pressures were about the same as yours except my R was 120psi (no tv) and R was 180 (full tv @ 1500rpm) . When I got in touch with Chris he said My numbers were fine also. His rationale was b/c i was seeing a constant rise in pressure with the pulling of the tv cable along with seeing the max tv pressure readings @ full tv everything is fine. "You are ok", were his exact words.

They are ok,but if you have a monster engine personally would like more. I have 90-275 on mine and they are mild and no tranny issue.

But yes you maybe just fine. EA has a chart on his site with pressure readings.

I tried everything I could, tore my trans down 3 times and back up again, researched everything and everywhere I could and couldn't get my pressures to increase. Even with the .5in larger boost Valves and stiffer springs in the valve body. My idle pressures remain towards the lower side of the range @ 60psi.

Have you changed the PR spring? Tried .500, .555, or .570 boost valves? How deep in the pocket is the rotor and slide. See where I am going with this? Blue print the oil pump. Is it an OE rotor/slide in the pump?

Yes, I changed the PR spring with the one that was in the ck kit. I am using .5 boost valves and .296 intermediate boost valves. My pump is stock, no mods except the for the boost valves. I scratched my head about replacing the pump, thinking that could be the cause, but didn't want to spend a couple hundred bucks for a new one and find that is not the problem. I read a couple posts of guys buying a pump and it didn't change their pressures.

Just because your pump is OE doesn't mean it is within specs as far as the depth in the pocket goes. Same principle as a front cover on the engine. If the pressure is not responding to changes in boost valves and PR springs there's gotta be something else that is not right in that pump. Stock boost .471 so .500 is bigger but there also bigger boost valves and I 'd be curious if they would increase the pressure output. What color is the CK PR spring? I believe a pink spring is the color I use on the PR valve. It's available from summit for $6. The product description will say what it's rated for.

The other variable is your guage, are you sure it is correct?

I wish I had an extra pump to try when I had the transmission out. My readings "do" increase with tv adjustment (when throttle is pressed).
I can't remember what color the PR spring is. I will check when I get home, I took pictures if all the parts in the kit. I was thinking that my gauge could be the issue a while back. I was supposed to take it off and run some compressed air through it and verify that the readings from the trans gauge is the same as the air compressor gauge. It is still installed on the trans. I brought the gauge new from Amazon. It was a cheap gauge, only paid 27 bucks for it.

Thanks for the info.
I mainly use the transmission locked manual in 1st, 2nd and so on.( Engine produces 430 hp / 430 ft lbs)
So I would prefer to have like 250psi of pressure in 1st and 2nd too. Any idea why the transmission would be setup with lower pressure for manual first and second gear? How can I fix this? Change reverse boost valve?

Reverse boost valve does control pressure in 2,1 so yup try a bigger one.

But the reverse boost valve controls pressure in 1,2 and also reverse? My reverse pressure is 270psi, but 1, 2 around 175 psi. I don't get it.

How come pressure ain't constant in 1st and 2nd?

Pressure is going to different places. Could have internal leaks in the circuit. The lower pressure has a bigger leak.

In reverse and manual lo and lo 2 boost oil actually pushes the tv boost valve back and reduces pressure, something Steve V is obviously not aware of. I now have a mod that allows all of the pressures in the drive range to be the same.Your base pressure can be 60 psi below 1000 rpms with no tv.If so shimm the plunger @ .200 and watch the readings jump to 100 psi

Thanks Chris, I never claim to know everything. But you don't see negative
posts about my trannies on this forum. No doubt that was you calling from the
unavailable number twice lastnite. I ve been in your units and seen the threads about problems
with your builds. I have had other well respected buick tranny builders tell me somethings
in your book are way off base. I have used your parts and they are good stuff....but watch
those shafts on those billet drums they need to be true....not good when they wobble.

Thanks, the mod you are talking about to allow all the pressures in the drive range to be the same. Could you tell me how? So I can do it on my transmission. If screw something up I won't blame anyone but myself.
